Dave Lindfield from Model Rail Baseboards will be joining us on the 3rd December in the Oriel House Hotel 
Dave will be giving Scenery and Soldering Demos on the Day 
Any one interested in taking a table please let myself or Mark Dunlea know ASAP. 

This event will now also be the launch of the the book West cork railways, birth beauty and betrayal. With book signing from Chris on the day.

Delighted to hear Owen O Neil will be in attendance on the saterday. Owen has been 3D printing kits such as 20ft flats, 20ft containers, signal cabins ect. He will be showing his work on his Chetwynd viaduct model. Currently not yet made for rails running in top, but still getting there. 

 

 

Chris larkins book is set to launch at 1 o clock on the day with Honours from Ray Good 

for those interested in model cars premier motorsport will also now have a stand at the show.

Wasn’t the macroom section supposed to be open but insurance wouldn’t let it go ahead or something…

Everytime I’ve gone to Killarney it’s been a real treat watching the construction take place.

I haven't heard that. I don't know what the original plan was but they were toying with opening just the bypass around Macroom this year the problem is there is no entry/exit between Gurteenroe and Ballyvourney. So now there's a temporary roundabout after being started near the new junction in Carrigaphooca.

An update on cork model swap meet From organisers 

Anyone who has a table booked for the Swap Meet in Oriel House Hotel Next Saturday 3rd Dec.
If you wish to set up your table on the Friday Night 2nd Dec from 5.30pm myself and Mark Dunlea will be there setting up the room. 

Entrance to the Room is to the left of the main entrance to the Hotel. 
We will have it marked with our Sign.   
Easy Access for bringing in stock 

 

those who come by train or bus can take the either walk or take the bus To grand parade where The 220 bus to ballincollig would be the best option 

 

Chris Larkin will be launching his book at 1:00 with comments from Ray good, Liam murphy and Cathal Deasy but book signings will take place before and after that time.

 

number 90 prints will be avalible for 60 euro, a discount from the normal price. Along with updates of other 3D print projects from Mark Dunlea and Owen O’Neil

Cork swap meet 2022 in photos 

the main entrance. We had authentic CIE memorabilia, 3d prints, loads of Irish and continental stuff. this was also when at 14:02 somone turned up with a van full of railway modelling stuff that he inherited….he had sold everything sold and was out the door by 14:58!

Mr Larkin selling his book of course. He also sold almost every IRRS journal from 1964-84

the allocated “Dublin room”…well half it anyway!

we have Kevin meanys C201 (made for CIE by metrovics to demonstrate what they would look like) Mark dunlea’ sneaky aquired Scratch built 0 gauge C class and my C212

it them become a little more populated with maebh, 112, 2 bandon tanks, a long Tom, a D class and a live steam hunstlet….my poor silverfox yolk is outclassed! 

then end room was mostly reserved for non railway related works (aside from the bottom left!) we had David linfields fascinating model baseboard business in here too 

the book launch featuring Ray Good, Chris Larkin and some eejit that couldn’t have his eyes open for a single photo!  

the final haul for myself. (The only reason I got the orange yolk is because it’s “River Bandon”!)

Lovely. But go and wash your mouth out. That is not a Hunslet. It’s a Beyer Peacock, purveyor of the finest locomotives in the world. The prime examples of their craftsmanship, of course, were found on the Fermanagh/Leitrim border

While your correct in saying these are actualy Breyer peacock….funny enough I reckon you’d find even better examples of Breyer peacock engines in the south coast . 2 of which can be seen here. The green 467 is scratch built while weathered 464 is the kit from alphagrapix

Only because we’ll get told blue lined express engines are the climax of BPs art rather than plain old workhorses! Welshpool had a Beyer gala this year - with visitors from a wide range of gauges. See how many Irish design similarities you can spot. The BP works shunter has a very similar cab to an SLNC small tank. ….and this little green engine herself probably shifted a great deal of Ireland-bound loco parts around Gorton works from the 1870s to 1950s

Enjoyed the Welshpool video my favourite Welsh narrow gauge line after the WHR. First visited the line in 1980 tramped nearly 3miles from Welshpool to Sylfyn station and back to catch the train as the line did not reach Raven Square for another year, doubt I would be capable of walking that distance these days.

Rode behind Hunslet No 14 , a lot in common with WHR Russell, or a scaled down Dingle loco! Interesting to see an Austrian 0-6-2T at Sylfyn, the Welshpool & Llanfair was built to follow the contours with minimal earthworks and sharp curves similar to another 2'6" gauge line the Mariazellerbahn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariazell_Railway. which we discovered in 2003 including an operational Engert 0-8-4T

Owen o Neil also had his stand. Mallow signal cabin, Waterford signal cabin, the machine junction buildings, 20ft flats, and an entire N scale Chetwynd viaduct were on display…
