Galteemore Posted September 27, 2025 Posted September 27, 2025 Excellent. Always good to be an exhibitor! 2 1

It's so fun trying to make it look real- it's not a particularly difficult job in fairness as the layout is quite realistic. But the camera angle is everything, low angles really are magic. 4 1

Patrick Davey Posted September 27, 2025 Posted September 27, 2025 Lovely stuff!! Those Hatton’s carriages look right at home 1 1
dropshort105 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 I had the privilege of seeing this wonderful little layout at Dunshaughlin, it is a wonderful example of how a layout can be small, uncomplicated and still capture the atmosphere of the period, it's lovely. 1
Metrovik Posted October 24, 2025 Author Posted October 24, 2025 Well, 1 month later and I'm heading to a much tougher crowd this weekend! Be sure to say hi and point out what's wrong with the layout if your at the show! 9

Metrovik Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 Well thanks to the leaving cert it's been 9 months since I've posted here. But for once I do have a substantial update! Following the purchase of a bachmann 105 which is suitably prototypical-ish looking for me to represent an aec Railcar. (It's got the right face at least). I have been inspired to create a new sort Module/ layout/ photo plank of tramore station as it would've looked during the very last months of the Railcar years. Complete with a siding for the camping coaches. It's very small but I like that to be honest, nice to have a comparatively small amount of jobs to complete so they get done properly. This is going to be a more realistic representation of the line than the station in the foreground. (Tramore high level if you will!) This kit-built coach acquired from the East Lancashire railway years ago will have to be repainted into the blood & custard-esqe colour scheme. All this has to be done ideally before the Dunshaughlin harvest festival at the end of September so that I can have a train run between both stations but at least before the Mrsi exhibition in October. As always any tips or suggestions are welcome. Better be sooner than a month before I do more! 15
Metrovik Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 With the Dunshaughlin harvest festival right around the corner on the weekend after next, I felt I needed to assemble a more prototypical(ish) band of rolling stock. Nothing here is accurate whatsoever, but I think it all captures the feel quite nicely. Figure 1. Tramore on an unidentified date in circa early 1960s. Here can be observed the variety of liveries of Irish coaching stock at that time. In the center foreground can be seen an unusually clean Bullied full break "Tin-Van" a prototype vehicle of which only one made. (or at least thats the excuse I'm running with.) Unfortunately, the colour film used to take this shot has deteriorated. Tramore again, circa 1962. In the background the 5.00pm service from Manor street pulls into the station comprised of an AEC railcar DMU and a park royal coach, specially modified for use on the line. The middleground see's an unidentified j26 shunting some of the lines few goods vehicles in the yard. Resigned to freight work since the advent of the AEC sets, these steam engines formed the backbone of services on the line for over 20 years. Another J26 hauls the 15:30 service from Tramore to Manor street on the 15th August 1936. Following takeover of the W&T by the GSR, these engines were transfered from former MGWR teritory by being driven down the street in steam using temporary track moved using a "leapfrog" system. As I said, none of this is historically or prototypically accurate but its good fun and captures the feel. 16
Patrick Davey Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Good to see an update - keep the photos coming! 1
west_clare_wanderer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Fantastic to read an update. You're doing a grand job. Keep it up 2 1
Metrovik Posted September 19 Author Posted September 19 You'll have to excuse the mess, but the 2ND module of the newly named CIE, Waterford and Tramore section, is now nearly complete. With the Dunshaughlin exhibition just around the corner, I had to get the finger out here! It's a very small module and nothing breathtaking but it certainly adds to operations. Somehow it's up to nearly 10ft by now. Dunno is it a micro-layout anymore! 14

Metrovik Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 Didn't get many photos of the weekend, however the ones I did get were of @dropshort105s fabulous C class which I was ever so kindly able to commandeer for a while! Great weekend all round. Many thanks to those involved especially @LNERW1 for his help as usual. 10

Metrovik Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Just finished an exhausting, yet amazing weekend up in Mount Temple. Apologies to everyone I annoyed with my ding ding! (We were operating bell codes) Picked up a few kits that I can do up nicely in my prototypical-ish fashion! VID_20261025_163135.mp4 Many thanks to @leslie10646 for the generously priced GN van (they made it to cork!) and for good conversation over the weekend. And to @jhb171achill for good conversation, and introducing me to some very useful people. To @MikeO and the other Mike, for putting up with my shenanigans once more. To @Killian Keane for great company on Saturday and for producing such a fabulous W&T loco!! And who can forget my second man @LNERW1. Without him I wouldn't have been able to get up to nearly as many shenanigans throughout the weekend! Finally, just thanks to the MRSI for having me and to any other Forum member or reader I met over the weekend. This really is a social hobby, at least on this side of the pond!
