IrishTrainScenes Posted Friday at 12:11 Posted Friday at 12:11 Hello all, I was browsing through geograph.ie the other night and discovered these old photos of 2600 Class DMUs at Lisburn back in 1995! DISCLAIMER: These are not my photos. Credit to the original photographer I just saw them and thought it was interesting. Would anyone happen to know the reason why or how often this happened with a 2600 in NI? I gather it happened atleast 3 times in 1994/95. 4
jhb171achill Posted Friday at 23:58 Posted Friday at 23:58 Now THATS a rare one! I had no idea they’d ever been north of Drogheda! 1
Haulier Posted Saturday at 18:28 Posted Saturday at 18:28 Did a Dundalk 2600 set not work a Sunday relief PORTADOWN - CONNOLLY [ about 1800 ] for a while ? I can't put a date on it - maybe in late 1990's. 1 2
Colin_McLeod Posted Saturday at 20:31 Posted Saturday at 20:31 Two IR trains in Lisburn and a loco on its own, probably running round its train suggests the line was blocked between Lisburn and Belfast by a bomb scare or similar. 2 2

Mol_PMB Posted Saturday at 21:18 Posted Saturday at 21:18 Presumably this was before rolling stock needed different signalling/comms equipment to travel cross-border?

IrishTrainScenes Posted Sunday at 13:19 Author Posted Sunday at 13:19 I have been shown a note of a DD set operating from Dundalk to Cobh in 1998 during the HARP 100 Celebration. Does anyone know if this happened or is there any photos of this if if did?

airfixfan Posted Sunday at 14:32 Posted Sunday at 14:32 Seagoe Box will know if it happened or not? 1 hour ago, jhb171achill said: I'd guess that didn't actually happen. I've never heard of a DD set south or west of Dublin..... DDs have got as far as Inchicore for sure
seagoebox Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The first regular timetabled cross-Border use of the 2600's was with the introduction of the new timetable on 15th May 1995 (although it had been running for a few weeks prior) A set of 2600's (usually 3 x 2) left Dundalk on Sundays at 17.10 to Portadown arr. 17.55. The set then returned to Connolly as the 18.10 calling at Newry, Dundalk and Drogheda (plus Mosney 21st May to 27th Aug). Around this time passenger numbers were steadily increasing between Belfast and Dublin, this railcar working was designed to ease pressure on the already heavily loaded 18.15 from Belfast, the railcar continued on this roster until the new timetable on 1st September 1997 when a new 17.30 from Belfast replaced the railcar working, calling at Portadown at 18.15/17 and taking much the same path to Connolly. These three images were taken at 1) Poyntzpass, 2) Portadown, 3) departing Portadown for Connolly on Sunday 8th May 1995 4 1
skinner75 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago On the pic above with 113, what are the two devices on the rails?
