Glenderg Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Can confirm that they're just painted. The windows are painted in? So that doesn't technically make them windows, just recessed panels? Have I that right? Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Not impressed by the Sulzer but the G601 looks OK... There's no grille (under worksplate) at the front of the bonnet in the older G's. Also that raised area on top of the bonnet doesn't seem to feature? http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20B/Belmont/slides/Belmont_19600909_001_CC_JA.jpg Quote

heirflick Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 well spotted there minister - so she would be right (as can be) for balck /white or tan liverys? Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) It's not a major gripe, it can be corrected with some bodging, but might as well do it right as wrong when sold as a RTR. Would want to be on a par price-wise with other resin G if I were to purchase it as a kit, that is if it's powered by the same unit. Edited March 14, 2014 by minister_for_hardship Quote

Recommended power unit is a Tenshodo Spud. Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 O Gauge G613 currently in the paint shop Should be seen on Dorset Junction soon, possibly Easter in Wexford Photos taken for reference http://s612.photobucket.com/user/WRENNEIRE/library/G%20CLASS?sort=3&page=1 Quote

Mayner Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Personally I think using a Spud presumably to keep the cost down really lets down the model. The Spud is a nice bogie for running around at high speed, a Black Beetle particulary the 25:1 would have been a better option for a shunter. Quote
