BabyGM Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Hi guys I did some ballasting during the week It's a bit heavy in places but that's not impossible to fix:) In other news I've begun to scratch build an 071 with plasticard and am converting one of my mk 4 conversions to a cafe/bar mk 3 I've also started on the mould for the concrete Quote
201bhoy Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Your layout is looking great! You've by far overtaken me already Quote
BabyGM Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Thanks guys Heir Flick large radius points are lovely ,I like the nice flowing radius of them Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I think you need to redo this bit as I can't see to many trains passing over this section there's to much of a sharp angle on it you may need the bigger diamond crossing. Quote

It could well be the angle of the photo, but it looks too sharp to me to accommodate a rake of wagons without a derailment. If all of your stock cross over it without a problem, then happy days! Quote

Yep I think everything passes over it it also a bit down to the speed and the way I push the wagons/coaches/locos along as the points aren't yet powered and the crossing is between two of them Quote
Guest hidden-agenda Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Short term gain long term pain, you should think about relaying that area as its going to cause a head ache in the future plus it does,nt look good at all. Quote
RedRich Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 The other guys have given you really good advice and I will agree with them that in the long run that is going to cause problems. You may think it is OK now but it won't be when temperatures change and things begin to move. For your own sake and any other future problems change it now and save a lot of hassle in the future. Anthony's given you a good link to something that will solve the problem and it is well worth doing. Other than that it's looking lovely and you are making great progress. Rich, Quote
BabyGM Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 Taking your advice lads I have gotten rid of the crossing and have probably improved easy running Where the old crossing was To the top right is a loco siding for station pilot Quote
Broithe Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 It might also be worth closing up the gaps in the nearest track there - any time spent getting the trackwork reliable now won't be regretted later.. Quote
fitzguttentite Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Thats an excellent job keep the pics coming Quote

BabyGM Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Hi guys I recently was given this engine and I have absolutely no idea what it is ,only it has a flying snail on it I layout news nothing new has happened in the last month I've only done a few little things as opposed to my plan to be doing the point motors now The only news is that I've decided to g back from using Roco coulpers to using Kadee's and that I've made the track on the long curve where the station will be more parrallel with each other and tidied up the ballasting Quote
Warbonnet Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 It came in a Hornby set with a few wagons, Mr. Bracken will be able to give you more info. It was loosely based on a British GWR prototype I believe and has been churned out in all different liveries. Quote
