Thought I'd put a few updates here. The railway has announced this morning that once remedial work is finished on O & K No. 3 (which is currently at Whitehead for the purpose), it will be tested between there and Carrickfergus on a public excursion with three RPSI Mk 2 carriages. This will be its first ever main line passenger run, and it's first visit on any main line since it left the sugar factory for Dublin about 1961. Exact date will be announced once work nears completion.

Fantastic news, JB. Could this be the first time ever that an industrial steam loco has been used on a mainline excursion anywhere on these islands?

I think you've been had...

Oh no I haven't... sure I already saw over on Facebook that No. 1 is being cut up, so she'll be needed back at Downpatrick ASAP. No time for mainline shenanigans at all... :P

March 32nd.

Its after 12 on the 34th Septober.

The story about No. 3 on the Larne line was a spoof. It's actually going for trials on the Isle of Man Railway instead after temporary regauging....

And the cutting up of No. 1 was a spoof as well. It's actually A39, C231 and 146 that are being cut up; the resultant scrap metal will fund a new casino at Inch Abbey, the profits of which will be used to build a new-build replica of A39, which will be painted in an entirely wrong shade of GSR maroon....

I heard that they are rebuilding A39 upside down, to make work on the bogies easier, before turning it over for the first test runs - and so that the pictures of the progress will appear on here the right way up.

Possion d'Avril ceased at 11:00am UT but what the heck:

  • 22k's to be reallocated for motorway use from 2017, seats to be improved with softer concrete padding and Fisher Price logos to be replaced by Bus Eireann logos.
  • 800 to be moved to a new museum in ROI and shrunk to 7mm scale
  • Food to be served once again on main line rail services for first time since 1990s
  • Luas track bed to be made available for go-kart racing at weekends when the services are on permanent weekend strike
  • 201 class to be re-engined with more powerful 6000hp motors to cope with Ireland's anticipated obesity crisis in the future. Seating on Mk5 sets will be one seat on each side of the isle, and track ballast to be made 10 inches deeper.
  • 2600 class banned by EU H&S watchdog for fear of future 'army deafness' style litigation. Orthopaedic hospital beds in ROI to be reduced by 25% within 5 years of withdrawal.
  • NIR to re-gauge all track to 4ft 8.5in gauge within 6 months of England, Wales and NI leaving the EU. Independent Scotland to re-gauge to 5ft 3in broad gauge in an effort to stop English trains crossing the EU border into Scotland.
  • Irish Sea rail tunnel to be abandoned
  • Dublin Airport to get electric bike cycleway link to city centre with charging points in each constituency on route.
  • Murphy Models announce model of 2016 class high speed rail train used on Dublin to Mallow route.

In preparation, dual gauge changeover track is already fitted on the Boyne Viaduct.

IE awoke the ghost of Watson, to design and build a new batch of 400s,to help the Meabh and the Maglevs on the Cork line, but they then found out why they were rebuilt, so then awoke Bazin too, who built the 500s again as well. IE then realise the futility of diesels, and approach John Beaumont for drawings.

He agrees, but only on the term that he can blow up a bunch of 22000s and then take pictures of the wreckage, with his Australian camera:D

Upon privatisation of all of NIR, IE, Bus Eireann and Ulsterbus, all four entities along with GoBe and Aircoach are taken over by the Londonderry & Lough Swilly Railway Company, after it found that a legal loophole means it was never would up at all last year.

All journey times to be quadrupled in order to save fuel.

Some 29000s were vandalised on the Achill line last night, with the words"bring back the D16s!" Crudely spray painted. Makeshift fortifications have been made by the vandals, who had rifles, old Lima coaches labelled"to throw" and multiple empty oil barrels. After complaints from the trade unions, 5 D16s were built, along with multiple 6 wheelers. The fortifications soon disappeared.

CIE dark green and blackntan has been brought back. The 141s have been rebuilt, and two were given to NIR,to assist the remaining Hunslet.

The new "standard locomotives" have proved very successful, and are to be scrapped next year.
