Broithe
A friend of mine went to an RTÉ Symphony Orchestra concert a few days after "That Match" - the various sections of the orchestra were introduced and got the usual polite applause, until the French Horns, who got loudly booed... Part of the Captain Boycott movie was actually shot very close to where I live... The mansion you see in the movie was actually Ladestown house, which unfortunately fell into dissrepair, and had to be knocked down.. minister_for_hardship
Starting to sound like a group of "Whinging Poms" than sporting Irish More the national pastime of holding grudges. The French were 'a great bunch of lads' until that incident.
jhb171achill
Didn't know there was a film about Captain Boycott? He had a house (Corrymore) on Achill Island.
Broithe
Didn't know there was a film about Captain Boycott? He had a house (Corrymore) on Achill Island. It is possible that it may have contained some aspects that are not 100% historically accurate.

WRENNEIRE
BREAKING NEWS !!!!!!!! England Chiefs have noticed that Iceland have fielded an ineligible player for the last 2 games, which means they could actually be disqualified, and that could put England back in the Euro cup. Check it out on the BBC website. It's right. England appealed to FiFA only 25 mins ago. If their claim is upheld it will mean they are through to the last few, + could actually be on their way to be champions Carlsberg don't do messages for delusional English dreamers who STILL think they can win everything. But if they did... this would probably have been the best message in the world
Broithe
Perhaps the most most perceptive assessment of England's performance is here - not for the easily offended or squeamish. http://www.joe.co.uk/sport/bbc-broadcaster-goes-on-astonishing-foul-mouthed-rant-after-englands-euro-2016-exit/69676
