connollystn Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Even looking at that Jouef stuff would be enough to poison your dog - long before he got his teeth into them. 2 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Jaysus, you anti-collector "trains must be played with" nazis would lose your minds if you visited my house. 1 3 Quote
Noel Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) Agree personally for me trains are for playing with and to be run, not in a display case or in a precious box up in the attic. But I do understand there is a market for pure collectors and as Patrick pointed out its just co-incidence that it overlaps with this hobby due to the products involved. Also see DB's point about rareness and part of the history of Irish models, etc. Edited April 19, 2021 by Noel Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 And some collectors also run some trains I know a man..... 3 2 Quote
David Holman Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 A few years ago, there was an article about a couple of Dinky toys. The models had never been removed from their boxes, indeed the boxes had never been removed from their packaging! Hence valuation was totally speculative, but inevitably, folk were interested. This highlights the line between collectors who acquire stuff because they like it and those who think they can make money from it, artificially driving prices up and indeed down. Know which side of the fence I prefer. 2 Quote
connollystn Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 I have to take my models out of their' boxes, otherwise, they won't operate properly on my layout. Saying that, some of those Jouef models would have looked much better if they remained in their' boxes. Can't wait for the As to arrive, haven't seen anything posted about them lately. Quote
K801 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 I think Jouef HDI is more of a general collectors item now having been made in Ireland, rather than it been a model train 3 Quote

There was an update just a few days ago from Fran. They are in production as we speak 1 Quote

He jumped the gun the other day and asked after 21 hours but that post vanished! 1 Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 The other side of Jouef I think the seller did not advertise this model correctly He advertised it on ebay.ie whereas .uk but better still .fr would have been the place to sell it https://www.ebay.ie/itm/384102678796?ul_noapp=true Quote
