thanks popeyeĀ  glad you like itĀ  . must admitĀ  it could have done with beingĀ  a tad or to longerĀ  but it was just to see what can be done in a boxfile . it has a two trackĀ Ā traverser so the whole layout can work withĀ  two locos and roughly 4-5 wagonsĀ  . one loco brings train inĀ  uncouplesĀ  Ā and runs back outĀ  .then i bring anotherĀ  loco in to shunt .Ā  belive it or not a shut around can last for a good 10 -15 mins beforeĀ Ā reverse ingĀ  the wholeĀ  processĀ  . thats is not include ingĀ  when things get in a jam and has to be un tangledĀ  . at the momentĀ  . i only have two 141 classĀ  Ā  locos but hope to add a 121 in a weeks time . fingers crossedĀ

Excellent work - well done you. There is probably more fun in building modules like this than actually operating them, but as your pictures show, they are great for posing and photographing models. Plus of course, one delvelops new skills in the process and the project gets going pretty quickly too.

thanks DavidĀ  yes thats trueĀ  as i tend to build only small layouts there is more fun in the build sideĀ  allsoĀ  things get finished much quickerĀ  . as my iterestĀ  in railways covers stadard gauge subjects and narrow gaugeĀ  and american to i can never justifieĀ  oneĀ Ā large layoutĀ  . as i am nearly allways thinking of my next project before one subject is finishedĀ

hi all as its hang on toĀ  your hat weather where i am this bank holl . thought i would knuckelĀ  down to some bits on the boxfile . one bit that neededĀ  finishing off was part of the duct work from the warehouseĀ  i wanted to achive a blister peeling paint lookĀ  . there are lots of ways to achive this look . one methordĀ  thats works for meĀ  is the hair spray and salt techĀ  hope thease pics show how i did itĀ  with the base coat of rust allreadyĀ  on next stage was use a can of cheap hair spray blow over what ever your subject is a few quick coats is enough then just sprinkle some table salt onĀ  air brush your topĀ  coat onĀ  leave to dry for 10 minsĀ  then with a stiff paint brushĀ  and waterĀ  brush the saltĀ  and you should be left with a nice rusty pealing lookĀ  Ā hope this is of useĀ  Ā

now the ducting and safety ladder our gluedĀ  back in place and blend back in .next job will be to tackelĀ  the stone walling on the end wharehouseĀ  i will problyĀ  clad this in corrougatedĀ  sheeting so as to give it a more neutral look so it dus not tie the layout to any paticular region .Ā

Excellent ground cover. Presume you used a static grass machine to create the weeds growing through old sleepers and rubbish?

Ā Likewise, how do you create the concrete hard standing? Colour and texture look just right.

A great little layout. The weathering techniqueĀ is very effective and looks simple to achieve.Ā

Tanks all for your kindĀ  commentsĀ  Hi David yes i 1st usedĀ  some stick on grass tuffs of differentĀ  bllendsĀ  then i used a cheapĀ  staticĀ  grass applicatorĀ  looks a bit like one of them old tea strainersĀ  and covered the grass tuffsĀ  with different mixes of static grass fibers till it got that really over grown lookĀ  , the concrete hard standard ingĀ  is justĀ  white plasticĀ  cardĀ  cut to shape in and around the trackĀ  then blown over with grey primerĀ  then i just used railmatchĀ  concrete acrylicĀ  paint in a wash and kept addingĀ  different greys whites etc . when dry then i use cheap artis chalksĀ  rubbed on with my finger tillĀ  it looks ok .
