Unfortunately the attic needed insulation so This layout was pretty much scrapped when it was stripped and redone.

I have a small layout up there now but plans are afoot to get Baseboard Dave in sooner rather than later for Amiens phase 2

    O Gauge???

Why no more updates to this one?

Did you end up turning it into a man-cave instead? Sofa, TV, fridge, weights etc?

Or maybe turntables and mixer, a couple of IKEA KALLAX units for your record collection, a smoke machine and some strobe lights?

Or a set for making amateur porn?

Part of the slow apparent progress has been just that. We are trying for a flexible solution based on a modular design so that direction of stairs and span will offer the best options. It’s a challenge but we hope to make it the default for footbridges in much the way our Rawie bufferstop is for modern bufferstops.

Will be well worth waiting for, specially if the design is going to be modular!

  4. Absolutely lovely stuff here!

I agree with the sentiments of everybody, the layout, the scenery, the era, the background modelling, the Tinnelly truck hiding by the warehouse, the main street, the bridge, the platform lamps, the photography and videography, everything is top notch.

It's not so much that Im bashing progress but I can see ICRs in my doorstep and can't see an Loco hauling coaches in the enterprise livery.

    Your post was clearly iCR-bashing.

I'm not super familiar with AI, but I'm sure you could train a freely available AI program like ChatGTP to analyse this thread for the data, asking it to calculate the probabilities, which would save you a fair bit of time.

@Sean is mad for AI, he gets moist just thinking about the rise of the machines, maybe drop him a message for some pointers.

I haven’t gotten info direct from murphy before but I don’t think any initial time given to the release date to a mode have been forfilled. even MM can’t prevent delays!

I'm still struggling to get my head around your two posts, here, but I THINK that you're trying to say:

"Whenever Paddy Murphy himself announces an estimated arrival for the new 071's, he will still be subject to external factors that may affect delivery."

But, Paddy hasn't even announced them, yet, never mind given a lead time.

We have livery information from two members who received it from Paddy Murphy and from Murphy Models.

We have an estimated delivery of late 2024 / early 2025 from two members, again who received the info from Murphy Models and from Paddy Murphy.

If Paddy is telling people that, it is fair to assume that he's likely to be more or less on the mark, so why say / imply that he's not?

I plan on booking a trip on the enterprise, but am really only interested in riding behind, the "real" enterprise not these Railcar replacements. Is there anyway at all too ensure this happens?

Easy there, Ned Ludd, there's no need to turn into another Noel, bashing progress every chance you get.

Next, you'll be saying that you won't board unless the loco's painted black with orange and white bands...

I imagine that if you read back over this thread, and analyse the info posted, you will be able to paint a picture of the days and times where a loco-hauled Enterprise is more probable than ICR's.

Its fair to say, based on what has been going on in the past number of years not to just assume that 071s are coming in 2024....it would be more likely that they will come much later. not being pessimistic but remember the 141s which are only due now were supposed to have been release as early as 2021(?)

    Maaaaaybe re-read the thread again.

Both @Noel and @MOGUL confirm that they have spoken with Murphy Models and Paddy Murphy, respectively.

Thanks for the help with that. I saw a post in a Facebook group a while ago, in Spanish, which Google translated to something along the lines of:”the British train being tested near (a place I can’t remember the name of).

Searchability on Facebook, and social media in general, tends to be quite poor, and many posts lack sources / references.

Often best to bookmark the url to the post, take a screenshot, and email both to yourself with a subject that you're likely to remember.

Translation was pretty accurate at least.

  10. Going back to the new run of 071's, does anybody know which NIR liveries will be reproduced?

There were quite a variety, and it would be nice to see a 1990's livery, which was missing from the original run, a deep blue with red / faded red warning panel, and a version as they run today.

I'm assuming that the livery application is not yet finalised but the tooling, ie marker lights, probably would be?

  11. Following on from the posts in this thread, here's a video of a UK HST (Intercity 125) on trial in Mexico in October 2023.

    I quite like the livery!

A couple of really interesting photoshops in there- one thing that particularly interests me is the 66’s in IÉ and NIR livery. Considering the 66’s have been exported to other countries, and with Ireland’s strong attachment to American traction, I think re-gauged 66s are not a total impossibility on Irish metals someday. It won’t happen, but not because it can’t. As a matter of fact re-gauging has fascinated me for ages. I think re-gauging the older UK locos and stock for IÉ and NIR use would be a great way to keep the classics (37s, 43s) around, while also making room for their replacements. It was done with the Jinties, and diesel and electric locos are arguably just as easy to regauge- they don’t have outside cylinders getting in the way. I’ll keep the rest of my opinions on this in a different topic, but just one more thing- I have seen a video of something that is either a HST or an XPT being tested in a South or Central American country- any info on that either? (In another topic please)

Aren't the Bachmann / Murphy mounting points supposed to be a bit different to the IRM ones? Not sure a direct swap is possible.

Well, I know of somebody who has some of MY coaches to play around with, so maybe we'll find out how interchangeable the bogies really are in time...
