Disappointed with @MOGUL this time. I mean, it's better than nothing, but no Superquinn sausages? They'd better be in tomorrow's container!
-
Back when the community markers first appeared, some members were deliberately changing their locations to be thousands of km off. Is it possible that you changed it as a joke back then, and forgot about it?

I'll look into it for you, JHB. Just send me your 'phone number, email address, credit card number, expiry date, CV2, full name, address, date of birth, street you grew up on, first pet's name, a couple of site logins, and I'll have it sorted for you in a jiffy. Kind regards. Prince of Mali.

Westport Quay and the Project 42 Inglenook
DJ Dangerous replied to Sean's topic in Irish Model Layouts
That backscene looks familiar... Oh, wait, of course, it's set in the Canaries. -
Not a problem, won't stop me from buying rakes and rakes!
-
I doubt that they had as many as they let on, or else there was absolutely massive demand pent-up for years.
-
Another EG8 / EH9 Civic, this time IXO model RAC241A. I have several Civics, Starlets, Datsuns and Transits, so there'll be very little variety in the eyes of some. Anyway...
-
They SAID that they did, but trying to buy one online was a nightmare. I 'phoned them and they only had one Jinty in stock.
-
@Sean pointed these out to me the other day - along with the price increase. Did Marks Models lose a pallet down the back of the sofa or something?
-
Do IRM have any notions of looking at 21mm-friendly chassis for the likes of Ballasts etc over the coming years?
-
Just change the couplings and haul them with a preserved 071.
-
On blank decoders only? Or also MM decoders?
-
Will IRM have any more Expressway buses? Not for me, don't worry I don't need any more, mine are in the post! Just that Hatton's have them back in stock the past week or two.
-
Sorry. The post just seemed very disparaging of ESU techs, the files themselves, the performance etc, so I mistook it.
-
Are all of the MM decoders terrible?
-
Started with very low opening bids a few days ago. Now all up to insanely high prices, and there are 12 hours for the red mist to set in and drive the prices even higher. Maybe a mod can merge this with the eBay Watch thread?
-
It's a testament to the quality of IRM's A Class, that @murphaph was able to get her running again. She fell from a good metre and a half, if not more, and to be there and see all of the bits was just heart-wrenching. Looked like a write-off, yet she's running again, and looks outstanding with that weathering job!

The windows seem warped on this one. I just assumed that the last owner had left it on a window sill in the sun or something.

He has been in touch with forum members in private as recently as February 2023.

The honourable thing for David to do, assuming that he and Mark parted ways, would be to publish a list here on the forum, of exactly what he has accepted financially, and not managed to deliver on. No names, just numbers. Client no. 1 paid a deposit of X on X date for X model with a balance of X due on delivery etc. It would be a giant step towards redeeming his reputation, and a huge step towards the transparency required in case he ever wanted to get into the model railway world again. Many people will feel that there has been a (or have been several) breach(es) of trust. Despite the running qualities mentioned in the Tara Junction thread, the models do look very very good. If he doesn't have the balls to take a step like this, he is painting himself as a con-artist. I hope he does the right thing.

I'll put my hands up and say that I'd be the first to moan about the price of these and the low run quantities... At the same time, I imagine that putting €20k or €30k or whatever into a run that may take a year to see the light of day is also a daunting prospect, so fair balls to Derek Farrelly et al. When it comes to quality, and this is not to knock the BritBus models, but the Jotus and Resin Specialist models have quite a bit more fidelity. I picked up a second hand Resin Specialist RS-76658 model, KD221, no. 059 of 150, and the previous owner did something wierd with the windows and lost a mirror, but still, here are a few photos of it alongside it's BritBus counterparts. A photo speaks a thousand words. Again, this is not a dig at the IRM / Britbus models, it's just a visual comparison.
