  1. Any photos or links to photos?
  2. CHB Rail (Christian Bitter) reviews: Is it just me, or is that A Class gobbling up those steep grades as if it's still on the flat???
  3. They only launched their UK sister company last year. I guess that there must be a saving using plastic over diecast in manufacturing, the trade-off being weight loss, but as you say, it allows or a much greater level of detail.
  4. Received a few of these beauties in the post today, Birmingham / WMT Leyland Fleetline buses from Rapido Trains UK. My interest stems from having family live in Birmingham, aside from that, it's all two-tone green Dublin buses for me. Hopefully, they are one of the "small" IRM announcements this side of Christmas. These are plastic buses, not diecast, so they feel very light, but the level of detail is great. They come with lighting, powered by two cables trailing from the underside of the bus which you connect to a 9V battery, but I have not tried this function. The wiring could probably have been designed slightly better - a friction-fit or magnetic clip to connect the cables to the underside of the bus, rather than having them trailing permanently, but overall, they're lovely models.
  5. 203 and 220 in the original livery, then 201 and 210 in the yellow-face livery. One of these would go really well with a '94 livery 201: https://www.amazon.com/ANTONOV-124-100-RUSLAN-AIRCRAFT-MODELSVIT/dp/B010SVO1DW

  7. At one stage, Silver Fox were almost the only option we had, and their Mk3 Suburbans and DVT's, while not MM or IRM standard, are not bad:
  8. Small announcement my backside! For the next locos, I'm going with: 1. steam loco 2. 141 / 181 / 071 3. C Class For the "powered" one, it's obviously a 22000, but if the worst comes to the worst, we'll settle for a 2600... Any update on those MM 201's? It's gone awfully quiet on that front.
  9. Hardly any of the YouTubers do. They dawdle along to drag the video length out for monetisation.
  10. "Small" is too vague... Small models, small runs, small prices, small baby on the way, give us a clue! Bring your weathering gear and we can work something out. Working holiday for you, but at least it's in the sun. And the answer is...
  11. Jayus, why all the hate for Sam's Trains? He has a nice voice, his videos are nice to watch for a few minutes, and his set-up probably resembles what many folk have as their only option... All I have is a board that slides under the bed with a few mm clearance! He does go on a bit, but I don't think that's the problem - I did an unboxing video a few months back, and it was about three minutes, yet there was still some yoyo on moaning about it. Have to second that! Where I'm based, Irish shipping firms, be it An Post, GLS, DHL Scumbag Express, they all make a complete balls of things, over and over and over. Any time I've had to email IRM, be it Fran, Stephen or Patrick that I've spoken with, they've been nothing but helpful and courteous. I imagine that many companies would just say "To Hell with him, he's the only one down there", but the IRM lads just don't give up. Here's an example of the massive clusterduck that is An Post... International flights resumed here in June 2020, and we've been free of lockdowns since then, yet this is the message on the An Post website, today: Lastly, who are Digitrains and what sounds are these?
  12. Old-man-racer-life-crisis, I believe is the term!
  13. Attached here is the updated list of A Class sound decoder functions, as posted here by @Warbonnet. 18.10.2021_-_A_Class_EMD_decoder_functions.pdf Also attached is the list of A Class non-sound decoder functions, as posted here by @BosKonay.
  14. Received these two little stunners in the post today; EP71 Turbos! Got them from eBay. My real life one is off the road the last few years, and will continue to be so for another few years. These are supposed to be 1/64 but I'd say that they're closer to 1/70. Too big for other 1/76 cars, but grand with 1/76 trucks and buses.
  15. You mean for the Mk4 coach sets and 47' wagons, with a little gap left for a few thousand two-tone green Dublin Buses?
  16. That's some amount of weathering! Buys you a lot of time in the shed to do a good job for those few lads!
  17. It's very rare that I get to choose the shipping company when buying. If there's an option, I'll choose anybody but DHL Express, but most of the time it's "Screw you and your island paradise, there's only one shipping option". Hattons are the only one I can think of who tell you who the different shipping companies are before actually making the purchase. So glad that the A's are shipping via GLS and not DHL Express.
  18. What do you know about tagging, eh? Sounds suspicious!
  19. Roughly how much does one of those giant corrugated boxes that covers a loco or coach cost? Likewise how much do those giant tarps cost? I saw this lovely video on YouTube:
  20. Same! Received a few tracking numbers, all GLS. Can't believe it, finally, only another month or two and they'll be here, in my hands! To DHL Express, I wish nothing but famine, pestilence and death, and the same to their families, friends and friends' families. Had a call from DHL Express the other day... €45 EURO parcel from Amazon, €3.15 IGIC due, €35 DHL Express handling fee... And, that €45 included an extra €6 that Amazon had charged to cover possible import charges, ie the €3.15 IGIC. Needless to say, I said no thanks!
