Tug Life - The History Of The Class 60
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in British Outline Modelling
I didn't realise how old the Class 60 were. They look more modern than anything else from the late eighties and early nineties. What does TTG stand for? -
Now in stock HERE!

All IRM Bus Commissions Back In Stock In Very Limited Numbers!
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in Bus models
Damn it, didn't know about this and missed out on the three I was after. -
Love it! Would agree with @Gabhal Luimnigh and @Galteemore on the level crossing. You could always have a road meandering across diagonally, and add a level crossing at each end, using card or DAS clay, as per the photo. Are you running DC or DCC?
-
Lovely to see, @Metrovik. I hope that somebody does the same for my collection when I kick the bucket.

Stunning photo-realism, pure nostalgia gold!

Mmmmmmh, foood money...

Sad to read this, @Mayner's wagons, and particularly his brake bans, have been great for filling that niche within a niche within a niche. I guess it was inevitable, and we'll probably see brake vans and opens and more loos-coupled stock from IRM as time passes. Thank you for your service to the community, @Mayner! I'm sure I've posted this link before, some of John's wagons shuttling back and forth:

So why, when we talk about importing into Ireland from outside the EU, for example in @John-r's recent case, do people say things like this? Irrespective of whether a non-EU retailer applies VAT to their postage fees or not, it would appear that for the customer, in Ireland, buying from outside the EU, there IS VAT charged on the postage. Is that the bottom line? Yes, there is Irish VAT charged on postage fees for items bought outside the EU?
-
This is going over my head. How can you pay VAT on postage if there's no VAT on postage? I have seen that written here on the forum several times, that there's no VAT on postage.
-
-
So they charge you VAT on the postage if you pay for the item and the postage together? But, if you pay for both item and postage seperately, you then only pay Irish VAT on the item?
-
Pretty sure that up in Ireland, the postage is not included for the VAT calculation, but I'm open to correction. Down here, the postage price IS included when the tax is calculated.
-
Approx £150 GBP is approx €176 EURO. Plus 23% Irish VAT is approx €217 EURO. Plus An Post charge something like €6,50 handling fee. Plus the £15 GBP / €18 postage from Rails. Totals about €240 EURO, all in.

New Announcement; The MGR, CDA and MHA Family!
DJ Dangerous replied to BosKonay's topic in British Outline Modelling
Rails of Sheffield have the Accurascale MHA triple packs on offer at just £50 per triple pack right now! That's mind-bogglingly cheap. EWS Pack 1. EWS Pack 2. DB Pack 1. DB Pack 2. Sorry, @Stoby, terrible time to be offloading that Hornby pack! -
Captain Nostalgia! Hey, I can do this all day.

Dapol have a twinpack out (4F-028-170 / 4F-028-171) with two 40' / 12,2m HighCube 9'6" / 2,9m containers, an OOCL and an APL: https://railsofsheffield.com/products/dapol-4f-028-170-40ft-high-cube-container-oocl-897811-2-apl-608507-0 On looking closer, the print layers on the APL container don't line up, and the print looks more Crapol than Dapol on both. I've expressed my disappointment with their hit and miss printing several times so won't go into it again here. I contacted Dapol previously about the MOL disasters, and they were open and honest about not going back to the better print quality of the past, which was good enough for me. I'm still tempted to buy a pack to see how they are in person. Dapol did a twinpack (B775E) with their previous print quality, OOCL and CMA CGM, and despite the body-coloured locking bars, they look very good: https://www.ebay.es/itm/405010364612 Both are 40' / 12,2m HighCube 9'6" / 2,9m containers according to the ISO codes. @Arran of C-Rail Intermodal has 20' / 6,1m x 8'6" / 2,6m OOCL containers in stock, and they look far better: https://shop.c-rail-intermodal.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=188 I read that @Arran did 40' OOCL containers in the distant past but none show up on the forum after searching. Everest Model do both 40' / 12,2m HighCube 9'6" / 2,9m and 20' / 6,1m x 8'6" / 2,6m OOCL containers, in 1:48 scale. Not as large as 1:43 scale, but very nicely detailed containers: https://www.ebay.es/itm/193839390809 https://www.ebay.es/itm/276277495616 USA Trains did them in 1:29 scale / G Scale. Diecast Masters do / did them in 1:50 scale. Atlas did them in 1:48 scale / O Gauge. Lionel did a reefer in 1:48 scale / O Gauge. Athearn, Herpa, Wiking, Modellbahn.blog, Everest Model, Walthers, and Inter Mountain all do / did them in 1:87 scale / HO Gauge. Fox Valley Models do / did them in N Gauge. Everest Model do them in 1:160 scale / N Gauge, with magnets. Rokuhan do / did them in 1:220 scale / Z Gauge.

Heljan O Gauge Class 37 Due Soon!
DJ Dangerous replied to DJ Dangerous's topic in British Outline Modelling
Had a chance to look through that Rails of Sheffield Class 37/0 post in more detail this morning. Looks like nine livery variants in total: 3720 BR Blue 3721 BR Blue large Logo 3722 Engineer's 3724 BR Green 3725 Railfreigh Unbranded 3726 EWS 3727 DRS 3728 Railfreight Red Stripe Weathered GM7240401 BR Blue with White Stripe I see no 3723 on the list... Wonder if they'll hit us with a surprise InterCity Executive variant! Rails are advertising all at approx £569 GBP down from approx £669 GBP, except for the weathered variant. -
