Enemy lines: the conflict on Irish Railways 1922-23
Westcorkrailway replied to Flying Snail's topic in General Chat
https://www.echolive.ie/nostalgia/arid-40253438.html Take a look at the 3rd photo….classic West Cork shot -
While it would only be ideal for a small percentage of layouts. I bet may would apply Rule 1 to get Maebh down onto there tracks. While my guess is whatever is next won’t be an 800. That Facebook survey proves its….somehow…..a viable option Id probobly buy 800 in CIE livery and MAYBE 801 in CIE livery and get it weathered as she got west cork beet trains between cork and mallow and is shown doing so in the west cork DVD. special edition 800 GSR 801 GSR 802 GSR 800 CIE 801 CIE 802 CIE 800 cultra edition (CIE livery with Great southern tender) 802 Tailte would be a very interesting model for a certain tour operator not to mention radio train attachments and the USA visit attachment imagine a box A1 style with a repro maebh plate on the front
-
I think everyone would buy one even as something that don’t run. Just a looker After 250 responses. The results have not changed much at all. The 800 is down 1 percent At about 80 voters On this one the 800s stand at 19, 11 for a J-15 and DSER 461 at 10 the big flaw in this type of questionare is the fact it does not take into account how many somone would buy of X amount of one particular loco. But for buying individually it seems there is only one that takes the cake. I imagine the numbers would be much closer otherwise
-
On another group I asked the same question and while a slightly lower turnout of 65 people. 17 percent still wanted an 800, 14 percent wanted a J-15 (good news for them) DSER 461 got 11 percent.
-
I asked Facebook this question “tick which locos you would pay and buy” and the awnser was an overwhelming 21 percent of respondents saying they would buy at least 1 800 Class. 10 percent going with NCC Jeep, 8 percent would buy a J-15 and 7 percent would buy an S class. That’s out of almost 150 voters as it stands….very interesting I must say that the 800s did so well

i bet this thread came in handy in the process of choosing the locomotive….so accurascale could also have a go
-
oh dear…. didn’t think it was supposed to be top secret I’ll hope for a MGWR J26 or bandon….in the 2 or so years this takes to be announced cause there is whole ICR we have to wait for yet but if we’re being real…there is only one locomotive calling out for RTR in steam WCIR 4-4-2T
-
Well yes. Has there even been a comprehensive list of the few locos to wear black. Photos like the below one show how confusion is more then possible (photo from Ernie’s Flicker). If not I’ll start by saying 201 and 90 wore it from August 1960 and 464 from March 1961 If I could get a bandon tank for £300 quid do you think I’d have as many diesels as I do?
-
Why did they paint her grey? The 3 west cork locos that ran on IRRS specials were painted black and indeed back was the norm I thaught post 1955 ish mustve had some spare paint lying around
-
Aye. Why would X manufacture make this locomotive for another at least 10 years when one already exists in RTR….and the 2 “main” versions of the prototype are covered. Albiet expensive as some say

Some more photographs of the show as they come through this is the lady who used to make models on the top floor of marks models cork working away at her stand. My stand is in the foreground. Owen o Neil also had his stand. Mallow signal cabin, Waterford signal cabin, the machine junction buildings, 20ft flats, and an entire N scale Chetwynd viaduct were on display… midway through the launch of the book. Legend Tom Ryan is about to read “ode to Joe st ledger” Liam Murphy, Ray Good, Chris larkin and Cathal Deasy pose for the paparazzi !

While your correct in saying these are actualy Breyer peacock….funny enough I reckon you’d find even better examples of Breyer peacock engines in the south coast . 2 of which can be seen here. The green 467 is scratch built while weathered 464 is the kit from alphagrapix

That is a C class model presented to CIE by metropolitan vickers….so a highly historic model. Only 2 of these along with 2 A class locos were every known to be produced and given to CIE….1 of each is known to still exist -
Cork swap meet 2022 in photos the main entrance. We had authentic CIE memorabilia, 3d prints, loads of Irish and continental stuff. this was also when at 14:02 somone turned up with a van full of railway modelling stuff that he inherited….he had sold everything sold and was out the door by 14:58! Mr Larkin selling his book of course. He also sold almost every IRRS journal from 1964-84 the allocated “Dublin room”…well half it anyway! we have Kevin meanys C201 (made for CIE by metrovics to demonstrate what they would look like) Mark dunlea’ sneaky aquired Scratch built 0 gauge C class and my C212 it them become a little more populated with maebh, 112, 2 bandon tanks, a long Tom, a D class and a live steam hunstlet….my poor silverfox yolk is outclassed! then end room was mostly reserved for non railway related works (aside from the bottom left!) we had David linfields fascinating model baseboard business in here too the book launch featuring Ray Good, Chris Larkin and some eejit that couldn’t have his eyes open for a single photo! the final haul for myself. (The only reason I got the orange yolk is because it’s “River Bandon”!)

From Experience (groan)….your saving about 65 euro
-
Now THAT is the kind of job I’d love to have done to a bandon tank. Superb stuff Eoin!

Time for a some live steam news. We've added the Accucraft ‘KATHLEEN’ & ‘LADY EDITH’ Cavan & Leitrim 4-4-0T to the website for pre-orders! These distinctive 4-4-0s will be 15mm scale Live steam and come with all the features now expected from a Accucraft Model. Available in 6 options, you can register your interest by using the form attached to the webpage! Kathleen/Lady Edith - https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/collections/accucraft-pre-orders/products/accucraft-kathleen-lady-edith-cavan-leitrim-4-4-0t-pre-order Now onto the more interesting one, we're doing market research regarding the possible production of 1 (hopefully 2) live steam engines in Gauge One! Both for Northern Counties Committee Prototypes. These being the NCC WT and NCC W Classes. Both would be available in prototypical liveries and would be fully working miniature steam engines in 1:32 scale. There is no pricing yet as we're only at the research stage at this time. However we will state Rolling Stock for these is already in development and will be out later in 2023. For more information and to register interest, please visit the link below! And before anyone comments, yes we know the W Class picture is of number 4. Trying to get licensable W class photographs is surprisingly hard. Now that I think about it, the most popular livery for the 071/111 class has a thick YELLA line across the front
