  1. Shocking photo I know, but another layout in west cork has one of these scratchbuilt for the basic tri-ang/Hornby 0-6-0. It might not be very visible but it’s a superb job. One that could easily be replicated with the 3D printer
  2. I got about 15 of these from 1947-50 recently. They’re the best most cute thing I even seen!
  3. Hopefully another example of how this technology can be used
  4. If I were you, I’d make the building out of corrugated sheeting for a real halt feel to it….of course that’s just me
  5. It’s not from halfway around the world…actually it is from Donegal
  6. I wanted to start a thread (not sure if one had been done) in the same vein as “British to Irish conversion” thread. But for stuff where a Body could be 3D printed and out on top of a pre existing Chassis At the moment number 90 which is build around this principle of using the old Hornby terrier chassis has sold over 100 Units or something like that now being in the area that I am I was theorising some EX GSWR West Cork locos to do from a generic 0-6-0 chassis of some kind from an LNYR 2-4-2 from an Adams radial with the outside cylinders chopped off 08 shunter chassis….these are repainted by silverfox but not a fully authentic shell So I’m making this thread, I hope to help or inspire those who are 3d printing to try and make attempts of Irish steam era stuff, as that era is starting to become more attractive and Of course, as you come up with ideas add them below
  7. And it does not have the same grab as Maebh….but if you use rule 1. A Bandon would fit into most layouts. I’m theory they could run almost anywhere while maebh would have a much harder time fitting into any place. You could have them shunting, or working a goods train on a branchline. Or working a permanent way train…
  8. I in my very unbiased opinion think that Bandon tanks should be produced forever in every gauge
  9. Another livery for the list so? Didn’t think they repainted 464 after 1961
  10. One day I’ll be hoping to get one half as good as yours! at the moment somone else has my bandon shell. Hoping to get it back at some point soon as ive not had it for a year.
  11. There are some lovely examples of the colour CIE used to paint the West cork stations to close em! Including the interior of one particular signal box Green/ red and cream/yellow seems to have been the most popular colours alright. I have seen blue being used too though. Any photos of a plan of this layout?
  12. Call this treason. But I think the J26 would be the only way to introduce MGWR to RTR (unless you count the MM k class) it ran all over the country even in wierd corners like the Waterford and tramore. would make an excellent shunting layout locomotive. I’d take one over Any G, E or D class anyway Hornby already made an SLNC Open wagon…
  13. I believe he means the CBSC tank engine 00 works produced. Mine has that issue….they fixed it free of charge but mine still seems to be slowly wearing away
  14. https://www.echolive.ie/nostalgia/arid-40253438.html Take a look at the 3rd photo….classic West Cork shot
  15. While it would only be ideal for a small percentage of layouts. I bet may would apply Rule 1 to get Maebh down onto there tracks. While my guess is whatever is next won’t be an 800. That Facebook survey proves its….somehow…..a viable option Id probobly buy 800 in CIE livery and MAYBE 801 in CIE livery and get it weathered as she got west cork beet trains between cork and mallow and is shown doing so in the west cork DVD. special edition 800 GSR 801 GSR 802 GSR 800 CIE 801 CIE 802 CIE 800 cultra edition (CIE livery with Great southern tender) 802 Tailte would be a very interesting model for a certain tour operator not to mention radio train attachments and the USA visit attachment imagine a box A1 style with a repro maebh plate on the front
  16. I think everyone would buy one even as something that don’t run. Just a looker After 250 responses. The results have not changed much at all. The 800 is down 1 percent At about 80 voters On this one the 800s stand at 19, 11 for a J-15 and DSER 461 at 10 the big flaw in this type of questionare is the fact it does not take into account how many somone would buy of X amount of one particular loco. But for buying individually it seems there is only one that takes the cake. I imagine the numbers would be much closer otherwise
  17. On another group I asked the same question and while a slightly lower turnout of 65 people. 17 percent still wanted an 800, 14 percent wanted a J-15 (good news for them) DSER 461 got 11 percent.
  18. I asked Facebook this question “tick which locos you would pay and buy” and the awnser was an overwhelming 21 percent of respondents saying they would buy at least 1 800 Class. 10 percent going with NCC Jeep, 8 percent would buy a J-15 and 7 percent would buy an S class. That’s out of almost 150 voters as it stands….very interesting I must say that the 800s did so well
  19. i bet this thread came in handy in the process of choosing the locomotive….so accurascale could also have a go
  20. oh dear…. didn’t think it was supposed to be top secret I’ll hope for a MGWR J26 or bandon….in the 2 or so years this takes to be announced cause there is whole ICR we have to wait for yet but if we’re being real…there is only one locomotive calling out for RTR in steam WCIR 4-4-2T
  21. Well yes. Has there even been a comprehensive list of the few locos to wear black. Photos like the below one show how confusion is more then possible (photo from Ernie’s Flicker). If not I’ll start by saying 201 and 90 wore it from August 1960 and 464 from March 1961 If I could get a bandon tank for £300 quid do you think I’d have as many diesels as I do?
  22. Why did they paint her grey? The 3 west cork locos that ran on IRRS specials were painted black and indeed back was the norm I thaught post 1955 ish mustve had some spare paint lying around
  23. Aye. Why would X manufacture make this locomotive for another at least 10 years when one already exists in RTR….and the 2 “main” versions of the prototype are covered. Albiet expensive as some say
  24. Perfect for hattons Genesis coaches…. @DJ Dangerous @jhb171achill
