The GNR loco probobly a 00 Works GNR U class. RTR rather then a kit
-
Some success After 2 hours of unproductive pulling off peices that I felt necessary, trying to fix the issue. And try and put it back together again. The 5mm has now dropped to 1mm. Only difference now being the black tape meant to hide the motor is gone so you can see clean through certain areas of course I’ll now need to test weather it can actually run, I have a sinking feeling that the sides of the bogey are still to low to clear the loco shell. And the two railcars seem far two close to actually round a bend (some of the precision tools I used for the job)

…… sh*te I was hoping to give my new railcars there first run in today, however attempting to attach them together I noticed a glaring problom the reason for the bogeys coming off make all the more sense. And I must be blind not noticing before but the back is 5 MM lower to the ground then the front. This means the bogey cannot attract to the other end of the car, cannot turn as its stuck and the bogey covers cannot stay on. I doubt it but does anyone know what to do because I don’t even know how easy it is to disassemble silverfox railcars. Because forget running it, I can’t even display it in its current state

After rough start with railcars (which I still have not had a chance to run yet!) I got on with my CIE coversion. Taped up either side and used what was left of Case/ New Holland black (stuff meant for tractors!) for my coaches. I ran out of spray which means no second coat…..I have the feeling that the Ex-White roof will leave a “GSR Grey” rather then black. I can always come back to it with more paint. onto green

So what was the proposed E class Loco? more details please
Westcorkrailway replied to Colin R's topic in Irish Models
I would’ve thought if people wanted a diesel shunter the G class would be more popular? (Haven’t a clue, silver fox versions will suffice for those who want one) ids say we’re a LONG way from IRM producing a shunting locomotive. There is much more popular stuff to do first! -
Looks perfect. You can tell by the decorative top on the signal in that style that it’s west cork straight away

in other news After tense competition, with IRM up the walls busy and An Post not letting my other package get away. The race is over with the silverfox coming out on top It is a different shade to C212 somehow, so goodbye plant to keep the green consistent greens across the layout although at least it does not have a black roof that being said, the bogeys did not take the trip from England too well Bogeys fell off the driving axle and the end bogey snapped in two places on the dummy railcar. The axle came straight off but heh, nothing that a small a small bit of superglue wont fix hopefully As im typing this. The other bogey wheels have now come off, for me they bogeys are a bit to fragile for an post shipping

There are not to many model companies where we get direct access to behind the scenes, ask questions to almost immediate response I have only PROPERLY been into Irish modelling for 4 ish years, it could have been earlier but I only knew of MM stuff and stuck to my tiny British fleet and model farms. Hell I’ve only been in the forum for less then a year I would think! now time for guessing what’s in those boxes, because somone has too. (Ambitious as it is) I think we will get an update on those 3D printed footbridges by Robert Roche…..maybe just maybe

The loco is a bit miscoloured, but the paint is basically accurate in the above picture to how it looks in the flesh.
-
Some paint arived from marks today, it’s a bit on the lighter side but I might as well paint a coach and see what happens

Yep, Twitter worked like a treat. Twas actually only about 70 customs on a €270 model. ids say if your intending to order anything from the UK for the next 4 ish months get it now, they are up the walls with work
-
I have given up on railmatch 307 early multiple unit green for now because one 15ml tin of paint costs 30 euros to ship im going to give humbrol 2 emerald green gloss from marks . Which will more then likely look like the wrong green, But it is very like the post 1956 CIE green.

I’ve been waiting 4 days for an sms/email/letter from them. might give this Twitter trick a go! My silverfox railcars are getting dusty in there sorting office and I owe them about an A class worth of customs charges (thanks brexit)

We have progressed a small bit since the initial bit of this thread. But upon realising that he would likely have to make up the chassis from complete scratch. We shelved the project in the meantime I do have (most!) of the SSM Bandon tank kit. With the same idea of just lobbing a chassis under it so no need to buy any motor or wheels or any of that…..or at least in my mind at the time
-
Might be best to leave it for a while. My fella spent a long time bollocking around with fitting chassis to loco shells with the Bandon tank (which I still need to try out a Fowler 4F chassis under!) it was just getting depressing so we stopped development for a bit. You may never come back to it, but don’t get rid of it. Start out something else on your to do list in the meantime

A30 and A46 look like a good match together! Surely my A30 is due this week at this stage I spose IRM auta put the name of this thread into all caps, for those who don’t get the message! it’s quite in this case as A46 was the only loco to have the dark lined green livery (I think) and IRM said they won’t be repeating any running numbers if a Re-Release ever were to happen in years to come. (And to be fair. From a business standpoint that’s the only way to do it)
