Great work and advice there Ger. The weights from the deltic will need to be added as much as possible as my a class deltic chassis needs more weight as she does not go up inclines very well.

I have often wondered about this weed killer train,as photos of it were rare enough showing what followed behind the loco. There is a cover shot of b103 hauling said train on the Tralee line on a IRRS journal from October 1990,and again hard to make out the make up of the train.Its nice to now see these wagons for a change.

I got some work done today,with the buffers and roof and side grills.I cut out the brass chassis and according to the instructions all I have to do is transfer accross the bogies,although I am not sure the brass chassis will be strong enough when you consider that extra weight will have to be added and perhaps be a little too bendy,but that is for another day.I used the deltic chassis for my A39 project and had to cut of the fuel thanks and cut and shut to suit.The brass chassis does fit well to the loco body,and so will give me a idea of what is needed to be done on the deltic. I also cut out parts for the drivers desk and it looks like only one end will have the drivers desk as space will be a problem in the motor bogie end.I may study this desk as I am not sure what way it goes,so any suggestions are welcome.I cant say I have seen many photos of the inside of a 101 loco anywhere.

Rob,the normal chassis for the MIR 121 is the athearn SW 1500,and you can get the new version which has Lights and DCC ready and runs very well.I will look up Web address for you as Gerry Byrne used them for his 121s.I found the white metal 121s very difficult to make and a lot had to be done to get the bonnot section to fit well.I think I stuck up a video on the thread "The 121s of Ballybeg".

Its back to the work bench for me,and I have just got the SSM B101 kit the other day and will start it tomorrow.There is a option of either a Hornby deltic or sd9 chassis,so I have elected to use the deltic as she only cost 36 stl from Hattons.I plan to paint her in the final supertrain livery in which they ran,so lets see how I fair in the comming weeks.

It's strange to think that I have never seen a 201 on the Rosslare line.The route only got CWR around 2002 and even at that,renewal of bridges have been slow enough. The 071s were more than enough to handle the normal 6 piece mk2ds until the plastics came along in 2004. The weight was always a problem for the 201s and were never going to be regular performers on this line. I would have loved to have got a shot of 227 on that famous cement movement on Enniscorthy viaduct.

Nice shots of Mullingar-Athlone line which reminds me of my journey on that line in 1995 with a ITG railtour with 124 and 131 hauling cravens and van. The line was overgrown at that stage as well and like on the video the branches were hopping of the windows preventing you from sticking your head out.
