  1. I don’t think it’s any better on the big island. Many times I’ve posted more than one item to the same address at the same time, usually returning goods I might add, and Royal Mail delivers them at vastly different times. Stephen
  2. AEC/ Park Royal railcar I believe. What are you going to use as the power unit, Hornby GWR railcar? Stephen

    Customs & VAT

Since Brexit we’ve had to learn all about customs and importation. Stephen

It’s strange how much ‘suffering’ people have to endure in order to receive their IRM purchases. Living in the UK, or Brexitstan as it is known in some quarters, I have experienced no problems whatsoever. Is that the experience of others in the UK? Stephen
  5. I think we should all be very grateful for the effort that IRM is putting into producing model of the Irish railway scene. They are a small company and are doing their very best in trying circumstances. Sure, I would love to be first on their delivery list but I know that my purchases are on their way. Have a good day. Stephen
  6. My two Lima class 201’s would run quite happily on code 75 Peco streamline track. Stephen
  7. Taking up Noel’s point about the mode of delivery, if I remember correctly, my order said DHL would deliver but here in the UK it was our dear old Royal Mail. Would anyone from IRM care to comment? Stephen What Kadees are you using? Stephen

    Last Orders

This is, truly, a sad day for Irish railway modellers. John’s models filled a void that will be difficult to fill. Thanks. Stephen
  9. The idea of Manorhamilton as a junction is an interesting one. If the big companies had become involved, we could have seen Great Northern trains to Sligo and Midland trains to Bundoran. Imagination is a wonderful thing. Stephen
  10. I think we will find that the failure to build the GNR(I)line from Sligo to Bundoran lead to the SLNCR line from Enniskillen to Sligo. The more direct line between Sligo and Bundoran would have been interesting. Stephen
  11. What’s the little one in the right hand corner? Stephen
  12. I’ll be sorry to see no more of your videos. Is there any chance of saving the layout for re-erection at a future date? Stephen
  13. Do my eyes deceive me or has the UG got a twisted right hand footplate? Otherwise an excellent buy. Stephen
  14. Seems like 131 caused widespread damage or is it just bad reporting? Stephen
  15. I don’t have the benefit of the findings you refer to. I bow to their greater knowledge. I was simply speaking having been actively involved with the works at Worcester. A physical model of the roadworks at Worcester was built and tested at Aston University, Birmingham. Stephen
  16. Proper design of a raised embankment would make sure that the problem is not passed on elsewhere. The use of physical/mathematical modelling will give the correct size and number of openings in the embankment. That carrying the Worcester southern link crosses the wide floodplain of the River Severn has just one large opening in it. Stephen
  17. Do I spy a derailment in the left hand background? Stephen
  18. Thanks for that. Were some of these sold to the MGWR when the GSWR took over the WLWR and decided they didn’t want the engines on order? Stephen
  19. What is the GSR/CIE classification of the WL&WR 0-6-0, please? Stephen
  20. Absolutely love the ‘natural’ background. Stephen
  21. There seems to be a belief amongst planners that people are ok with having to change trains multiple times. Am I in the minority who believe that puts people off train travel? Stephen
  22. There was also a proposal for a new high speed line bypassing Portadown. Some really good stuff in the AIRR but we’ll have to wait and see. Something I learnt many years ago, it’s not how fast you go but how slow you go ie how many stops you make. Stephen
  23. What’s proposed above includes a brand new high speed railway from Dublin to Kildare. Therein lies the problem. Largescale improvements of existing infrastructure are much more likely than brand new. Stephen
  24. I note that they use the word could rather than will, which suggests…..or maybe it doesn’t. We’ll have to wait for the formal announcement. Stephen
  25. There seems to be a reluctance to integrate all forms of transport, even though they may also be in competition. Steohen
