  1. I want one of them. Factories, that is. Wow.
  2. I had thought about perhaps using both powere bogies, but you'd have to add pickups and its an expensive option. You could try both chassis, for pig iron, to see if the additional tractive effort would, in theory, help. Would spreading the additional weight by attachint to the underside of the body roof help spread the load more evenly rather than attaching it directly to the bogie?
  3. Hiding out in Box Tunnel then, eh? Most interesting.....
  4. Yeah, far too short. Reckon it's anywhere between 54 foot and 60 foot long, so I'd imagine its a scratchbuild or a cut n' shut. Won't be taking it on anytime soon, not without more info anyway.
  5. As always, top drawer stuff. The ground cover, and how it blends to the trackside is delicious! Tell uz, what's the provenance of the water tower? Wills sheet? It's mighty. Richie.
  6. Anyone have any more photographs of the plough vehicle here in yellow?
  7. Superb photo. I thought it was a real photo taken in the rain. The lens flare looks deadly! R
  8. Cheers lads. Yeah Sean, it's all wills sheet and evergreen styrene strip for the walls and cills, styrene surrounds for the windows and doors, and scored acetate for the roof tiles. There's just a bit of card on the inside for the primary structure, but it's mostly heart and blade breaking wills sheet. R.
  9. Thanks lads, and if Kieran wasn't the gracious man he is, he would happily tell you that this build is several months overdue, and he was fit to strangle me at several stages. His patience has to be applauded!!! R.
  10. Holy Schmoly! All you need now is a lady figure with a plastic bag in the aisles, hassling peeps for their rubbish, it's that realistic. R
  11. Once I get my hands on the measurements, I'll do up a suitable kit/complete structure to attach, complete with decorative columns and canopy brackets. How's that?
  12. Ah gorgeous, lovely find. Will have to go through it later at my leisure! R.
  13. Most impressive dave.
  14. Gents, I have available for sale Weedspray Wasp Stripe Headboards for the front of your locomotive. Machine cut, hand painted, 0.12mm plastic with metal handles to rear to hang on lamp brackets, per the prototype. Even includes the little cut-out missing on one of the boards. Price is €2.95 for a pair, which includes postage within Republic of Ireland, €3.30 for UK and Northern Ireland. Other areas upon application. Order via pm here, or arrivals@glenderg.com Website coming soon with other "bits and pieces". Richie.
  15. One option is to use cheap tile adhesive, which comes in a dark grey colour. Add a couple of drops of blue cartridge ink and stir vigorously. The finished texture looks superb, and scraping or working an area with wire wool will highlight it like a worn surface. Years since I did it, but when I ripped up the layout in September, it still looked decent enough. Even where I'd spilled RailZip looked good as diesel splashes etc. Richie
  16. Is this to get rid of the ribs on the roof? Cut off most of it with a sharp blade. Run a stanley blade at 90 degrees the ribbing until you get a smooth finish. Dip coach in water. apply 600 grit wet and dry until smooth.
  17. I swear, not even upbaptized whiskey passed my lips. She's a really inelegant loco, all function and no form. Nora batty of the kettle world, sort of....
  18. Remove the blanking plate over the driving wheels, new domes and chimney, and it may even get the Scot's Mac seal of approval! R
  19. ROFL with Darby O'Gill checking the tickets too!
  20. This them on the right hand side?
  21. Lol JHB, I think he's talking about the outline of the wagon, rather than having "O'Toole's Banana's" on the side. (Oh Matron!) The outline is somewhat similar, but I don't think there's a direct copy for what JHB might call the H Van. Steer clear or any with vent at the end though, I recall someone here, possibly JHB or Mayner, saying that ventilated vans didn't run here. I have a load of old Weetabix, Ford, branded hornby vans with their logos removed, sprayed red and grey, with some CIE decals and plenty dirt and rust on them, and to my mind they look the part. After all, a wagon is a wagon, and provided the brake van and loco look the part, and there's a bullied open thrown in the middle of the consist, I doubt anyone would get upset. Or would they? Welcome aboard John, nice to see more of the pre 80's era modellers here. Richie.
  22. This is mighty clever. What's the story with the discharging process? a bit of something laid in place with ballast attached, or is it permanently stuck to the autoballaster? Very impressive sir. R.
  23. Good chat about this sort of thing a few months back. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2255-Wi-Fi-running-of-locomotives As a DC modeller, it's a more natural progression to "real running" - swapping a programming track for a recharging track. Fitting mil grade batteries into old lima's shouldn't be much hassle, plenty room. Little shunters, 141's etc? That's the engineering challenge. Thanks Ger for the post. Richie.
  24. Brings back some memories all right. I did have the car transporter and ramp, which my brother melted some 20 odd years ago, but I still have the spencer wagon (may have dirt and flying snail on it though) and about 18 of those tankers.
  25. Very well done thump. Every part of it looks great, and tidy video editing too! I thought when the 201 had refuelled there might be a splash of dirt starting around the tanks afterward....gotta say the sound is more appealling with that setup.
