  1. Lovely shots, great to see semaphore signalling still in action in Waterford. Take the shots of them while you can lads, that 150 year old technology will have it's day and be gone before you know it. A few years back, by pure good chance I managed to photograph the Ennis semaphore system literally 12 hours before the entire thing was ripped out. There at 9:00pm and literally no trace at 10:00am the following morning....
  2. Shem, more than likely. Also the car in the picture looks like the @rse end of a small early 60's type Austin. Any car alpha-geeks in the house who can ID it any better?
  3. Hi all, Studio Scale Models will be taking a summer break and will reopen on the 10th of August.
  4. That tractor unit looks well twisted. A write-off?
  5. I bought one some time ago. It's good value for a totally scratchbuilt kit and is a quite accurate representation. He also provided great after-sales advice about suitable motor power (HO scale Lima class 25 will do). Still have to put it together though....
  6. A pound in 1975 is equivalent to €13 today in terms of average earnings. So the Sindy or Lima Set would be c.€160 and the Matchbox (be still my beating heart!) would be close to €6 This also explains why you didn't get the Raleigh Chopper off Santa, as at £65, you'd get a motorbike for the equivalent cost! I remember getting my Hornby Irish Freight in Dunnes stores in 1980 for Irl£20, equiv to c.€120 today So really, no major change in terms of prices.
  7. Must. Refrain. From. Ribald. Double Entendre. Response..........
  8. I'm liking, I'm really liking it......the 121/141 combo was so graceless yet so classic, to use your argot Richie, brutalism and functionality all rolled into one?
  9. E428 is at Dunsandle (exit 16) http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20D/Dunsandle/slides/Dunsandle_20080327_014_CC_JA.html
  10. Brilliant video and photo, but did that driver come over specifically from his seat to wag an admonishing finger at you???
  11. What a selection of photos, great work Richie, to pick out one would be like picking a favourite child. The power of styrene eh? Well done sir.
  12. I'm impressed at his forbearance over 3 years as much as the sheer depth of detail and construction methods. A superb body of work there.

Rich, Just goes to show you're thinking clearly and with focus. Carry on. Regards Weshty
  14. Absolutely loving the junction signal with the tapered wood post base. A signal kit that I haven't covered, and that will be corrected.
  15. Merciful hour, but where do you lads find these little beauties?? I've never seen one of those photos before. Pure class. Regarding Glebderg's post http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnmig...57626386375365 Looking at network efficiencies, isn't pulling two four wheelers with a 2000bhp engine, just a tad overkill? Wouldn't a G class have done the job
  16. Good man Richie, will make sure to watch this after le episode trois de "Les Revenants" sur C4. C'est sans égal.
  17. Well, well done sir, modelling at its purest. Some of it kind of reminds me of the back of the Partridge Family's bus
  18. Looks really nice Eamon, great work done there. You did a lovely job on teh junction signal. I feel like a proud dad.
  19. Another item on my do do list, Three tier load of my versions in Resin...along with an etched frame
  20. Boskonay, very much noted, barely a whisp of exhaust, once it settled down. A good clean running engine.
  21. Come on y'all, let's accentuate the positive here and focus primarily on the amazing achievement of getting a C Class up and running. I don't doubt there's a feed of work to be done yet to get her final fitted and running, but what a job done! Over many long years, slowly but surely, they have got her nearly in better order than she was the day she shipped out. I hope the ITG lads have fully documented all they have learned about stripping down and fixing up this loco. They could sell it as a downloadable PDF on their site. http://www.irishtractiongroup.com/ITG_locos/loco_226.htm certainly whets the appetite. Congrats again to all.
  22. John, your knowledge knows no bounds. Well impressed.
  23. I've seen Uniload branded 10's running on 20' and the 42' was designed to carry them as well. Never seen a 20' branded Uniload.
  24. Beautiful, but sure, you can't ate it Sur!
  25. Ouch! Sounds like something the heavy gang did with the "likely lads" back in the day.....course you'd be too young to remember that Dave Back on topic, they look like a great idea. I could see a perfect spot for them in SSM Corporate Headquarters.....
