Lovely shots, great to see semaphore signalling still in action in Waterford. Take the shots of them while you can lads, that 150 year old technology will have it's day and be gone before you know it. A few years back, by pure good chance I managed to photograph the Ennis semaphore system literally 12 hours before the entire thing was ripped out. There at 9:00pm and literally no trace at 10:00am the following morning....

I bought one some time ago. It's good value for a totally scratchbuilt kit and is a quite accurate representation. He also provided great after-sales advice about suitable motor power (HO scale Lima class 25 will do). Still have to put it together though....

A pound in 1975 is equivalent to €13 today in terms of average earnings. So the Sindy or Lima Set would be c.€160 and the Matchbox (be still my beating heart!) would be close to €6 This also explains why you didn't get the Raleigh Chopper off Santa, as at £65, you'd get a motorbike for the equivalent cost! I remember getting my Hornby Irish Freight in Dunnes stores in 1980 for Irl£20, equiv to c.€120 today So really, no major change in terms of prices.

Come on y'all, let's accentuate the positive here and focus primarily on the amazing achievement of getting a C Class up and running. I don't doubt there's a feed of work to be done yet to get her final fitted and running, but what a job done! Over many long years, slowly but surely, they have got her nearly in better order than she was the day she shipped out. I hope the ITG lads have fully documented all they have learned about stripping down and fixing up this loco. I've seen Uniload branded 10's running on 20' and the 42' was designed to carry them as well. Never seen a 20' branded Uniload.
