  1. I dunno, I imagine a plain old 1000lb would do much the same damage there....
  2. Shucks! Much appreciated. Any emoticon there for taking a humble bow?
  3. Never mind the smoke, think of the massive amount of particulates and carcinogenic potential...
  4. The Intercities do it for me. That multiple shade of green, grey and silver was a divil to paint. So to get a new model design, central can, flywheel, dcc, louspekare, uberfine detailing and scalpel fine paint job all rolled up for less than 200 squid? Heaven.
  5. http://www.raiu.ie/publications/ That is some website, great detail in those reports.

    Barls Workbench

Lovely paint job and very fine settings, the scenery looks great and well photographed. I love the embankment work in the last shot. There's a good day's strimming in that shot.
  7. I cycled from NCW to Abbeyfeale and back again on Tuesday evening on the GST. Awesome, though my knees were well tired on the way back. Roadcycling this is not, what with gravelly track and mountainbike tyres. It is a gem of a route, particularly around the Barnagh. The current debacle is a disgrace and nothing short of a concerted landgrab via squatters rights. CIE need to fight this every step of the way.
  8. A few yokes around the place alright Rich! 'tis finding the time to do something with them is the problem
  9. Richie, By complete coincidence, John and I both got 4mm rollers from GW Models at the same time. Simple, elegant, solid mechanical engineering at its best. c.Stg £75 inclusive of post, and worth every penny. GW also does a rivetting machine (different sizes and a platform to do it in a straight line quite rapidly), and I fear the Gentleman's account may be hit for this as well in the near future...
  10. John, They look really well and right. Well done sir. You can put me down for one of each. These are such an essential part of any rake from the mid '50s to the early 70's. You've filled a big gap. Regards Des
  11. Ah Dave, as the old radio ad used to go "you're a dab hand with the oul' repartee". Multi beer barrel packs being considered. Weight for 42' footers, several options in the head at the moment....
  12. Hi all, 42 and 47 will be covered
  13. Shem, they look super, you're a justifiably proud owner. Well done George boy! Fine work sir. Shem, where the heck did you get Donitz's Ensign from????
  14. They are an absolute must have, a lovely set of models that again kind of slipped under the radar when first released.
  15. I would say the less done to it the better, they are rare enough as kits...
  16. Lordy but I do love those MM 201s so I do..... Correction. All those Mk IIs look amazing. The problem was so much good stuff brought out so closely, it didn't give us time to appreciate how DAMN good it all really is. Need to sit down now.
  17. That is just lovely, very nice job, great details.
  18. Fetch a seamstress!
  19. Sigh! If I'd have only appreciated it at the time.....

    Tony Miles RIP

I thought I recognised that name and then the hallowed words "Avadoyle" were mentioned. Probably the finest irish layout ever made, and I've had the great pleasure of seeing it in extreme closeup. May he rest in peace.
  21. Very very tasty, could I suggest some foam at the inner ends to prevent the hooks getting bashed?
  22. That's like something from Hall's Pictorial Weekly. Subtitled, "ah sure, t'will do!"
  23. Jimbo, What exactly is a j-hanger?
  24. That barrier wagon is a thing of beauty, and inspiration for the brass one I will be doing. Nice one, and mucho thanks for the shout out!
