  1. Interesting picture Glenderg, are those ventilation windows on either side of the van? My plans say a 14' wheelbase but they could be wrong?
  2. The brown vans have a wheelbase of 14ft and their length over buffers are 27' 8" the total height from top of railhead to the top of the roof was 12' 4". Hope this helps can't wait to see your models of them and what a great pic that is above. Edit: if you want to see one in the flesh, downpatrick have a couple including 2 with the outside W irons.
  3. This is her, for some reason my ipad won't let me post pics http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/50929-nir-450-class-intermediate-8794/
  4. Hahahahahhah Sorry Glenderg, this tutorial is rather interesting and helpful, it almost makes me want to buy a flat now.
  5. That re painted Craven is just amazing.
  6. Wow I'd love to have that buffer no idea why tho lol
  7. Thanks for your comment, ^ I'll be changing the load shortly. A friend of mine wanted me to make him a Thomas the tank milk van and the orders were to keep it nice and simple so here's my efforts, it's a scratch built body on a Cambrian Underframe kit, the roof and couplings will be fitted after painting. Thanks Nelson
  8. Thanks warbonnet, yep picked that up the other day and its very good it's why I'm saying the load may be a bit too big but they could jut be big planks of wood
  9. That's fantastic, did you have any trouble with the glazing on your canopy?
  10. Thanks Popeye for your comment, Over the last week I've been building these 2 Cambrian LNER kits but found them to be incredibly close to those used by the UTA so painted them in UTA colours, after all the LNER did build wagons for the UTA to replace those destroyed by the Belfast blitz, so they are close enough and I'm happy with them, I've weathered them lightly and added a timber load to one of them but I think the wooden planks are a it too big and coarse for OO gauge? So they might be replaced. Many thanks Nelson
  11. There's no way that QR code works, wow, someone must have tried it out?
  12. Just as a heads up the above wagon M53 has been re-painted and is now in its pristine colour ready for me to have another bash at weathering as my fist attempt was pretty horrific tbh.
  13. Hello Everyone, Thank you for your kind comments guys ^ Here's my attempt at pushing the weathering even further, I'm a bit unsure of it. so be honest please what do we think? The one on the left is the new one. Nelson
  14. Saturday 8th November, Keep this date free in your diarys, "Ireland's biggest one day model railway exhibition will feature over 30 railway layouts and associated exhibits." It's one not to be missed! Many layouts including Bleach Green, Lisburn, ballyclare and for the first time Rowlands Castle, a southern railway layout based during WW2 in preparation for D-Day. 15. That is beautifully weathered, nicely done
  16. I grew up with 80s, 450s and the current 3000 and 4000 class, but have never witnessed a proper goods train apart from 111s with ballast trains, yet despite all that, I model the steam era somewhat 60 years before my time
  17. They look wonderful Kirley, absolutely brilliant nice one!
  18. And if you want to see it yourself go to the DCDR they are now the proud owners of the NIR DBSO.
  19. Hello everyone, Got 3 more spoil wagons weathered and I'm really quite proud of them, so that's 4 now done and onto the next 4, obviously if there's anything seriously wrong with them or anything that can be improved be sure to let me know, I'm happy to take constructive criticism as it all helps Many thanks Nelson
  20. Spotted this on Facebook and thought some of you might like it. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/hurricanemk1c/14981123884/ I personally think it looks really nice.
  21. Thanks guys for your comments, I appreciate them a lot, it's a way of telling me that I'm doing something right and not completely wrong lol, the spoil wagon was the one I was unsure about because they were quite unique and I had to rely on few colour pictures and sometimes colour pics can be quite misleading? But it seems I've done alright, just finished painting the other 7 and will be applying transfers shortly, happy modelling folks
  22. Lovin the 3F
  23. Hello Folks, This is my (nearly finished) spoil wagon, it's an excellent kit, goes together beautifully and the detail is great. I hope I have got the colour of the weathering right? I can't decide Nelson
  24. Hello everyone, I managed to get the brake van, cattle wagons and coal wagons complete last week and then I began work on Northern Ireland's most famous wagons, the spoil wagons. These are done by Provincial Wagons and are absolutely superb kits, such a joy to put together, I have built 8 (5 for myself and 3 for a friend) I've nearly finished one of them, just the buffer heads to do then onto the other 7 Many thanks Nelson
  25. Lovely work, it's all so neat and professional, btw I like your PP
