  1. I couldn't get detailing kits for a couple of my 141s, so I'm not sure what will happen if they develop an electronic or mechanical problem. Maybe I'll have to scavenge from one to keep the fleet serviceable in prototypical fashion. Hopefully, there'll be a generic replacement if required.
  2. You need much more room for it to drop and if you planned some storage that would probably be under the station itself (you'd need the length of a train, plus a headhunt AND enough length to get under the main lines (see post above re gradients since the train has to climb back up to re-enter the layout). You'd want the branch to come off at least on the corner opposite the station in my mind
  3. It's a hand made locomotive and as I understand they need quite a bit of running in, more than the required hour or so for a standard rtr 'mass produced'. Same remarks with regard to the ooworks U and UG class locomotives we've just been discussing on another thread. What are the running issues other than stiff while running in? What do you mean by sharp curves 18" or it still has problems on 24" or larger? Buttons on the iPhone/iPad to the floor when you take the shot, I think someone suggested
  4. I was wondering if you have had a chance to run Maedhbh? If you have any video of her, I'd love to see her running (and I'm probably not alone in that)
  5. 5 mins to escalation, haha! Don't mention the Alamo Eh, JB's right there, Harry…….. I'm off to starboard
  6. My preferred weapon (I'm not the best touch typist) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Épée
  7. I'm sorry, Harry! The color of priests' socks is a very serious (maybe even Ecumenical) matter. There are only 10 VERYs to be prototypical!
  8. I suppose the commemorative item will be a B special
  9. Seriousness, power and odd shapes are the path to the dark side (of modeling)
  10. =)) I fell into that trap too. Hope you didn't give any ladies fashions as Christmas presents, Jim!
  11. I didn't think they were black at all, except one lined in red, the rest unlined grey, chassis the same color;) That's a much lighter shade than the priestly very very very very very very very very very very dark blue:p
  12. My mistake, Harry, for deficient knowledge of the GNR, and making assumptions based on dates and black an white photos:o
  13. I think that was a typo by Wrenneire. They're £255-265 which is about €350 plus P&P. Still expensive. That said, I would be interested in a U class but not necessarily a UG unless it was liveried in GNR blue & scarlet. The group purchase sounds like a great idea. Let's get back to discussing the G'n'R U'n'UG classes;) Some lovely shots there, Glenderg! Really sparked some interest with those
  14. Not to mention the change in the centre cab windows….. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/689-Article-121-Class-Locomotive-Drawings?highlight=121+class+centre+window
  15. Lovely diorama! Looking forward to the final C class at some point:tumbsup:
  16. I certainly hope so, even if it was a sugar cube or similar if space is tight. The 12 had the EMD 8-567CR as a prime mover which was the same as the 141 class, although I think the 181 class has the 645E. Is there already a sound chip out there for it? It would have been nice to have some feedback from MM from the consumers perspective at some point before I went and repsrayed a rake. But new fleet numbers is good…. hmmm Yippee! I'll be taking three of those and then more with the later liveries:-bd
  17. What are their locos like? How do these run?
  18. Happy New Year, John and all. WIth a 19 hour headstart you'll be reading this on Jan 2nd! After 26C on Christmas Day, it's turned cold here too There's a substantial lead time on these, isn't there? They'd have to be in production now and not a squeak from Wrenneire
  19. Nothing that a thousand ton of rock would't cure. Not sure if that'll move the erosion point a little further on. In any case dumping some rock in there now would be cheaper than anything else later.
  20. Some additional photos of the bridge for you http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=images&county=LH&regno=13620012 I'd take some time to find a workable plan as you may have regrets during the build or after
  21. Well at least some defenses have been put in place over the last year or so. Looks like they stuck a good fence there now, sure, it'll be grand:rolleyes:
  22. John, since I was not aware of the circumstances surrounding these accidents, for anyone interested in your comments, the Cahir accident was discussed on the site here http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/829-Cahir-crash-1955 The report into the GSR accident at Straboe during the Emergency seems to confirm your assertions that there was widespread non-observance of safe practices by drivers and guards, contributed to in minor part by equipment shortages including oil for train lighting http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/documents/DIE_Straboe1944.pdf The accident at Dundrum was attributable to an signaling error by the signal man and failure to warn more then one train of a potential obstruction on the line. Once again in darkness with a contributory rear lighting failure on the first train
  23. Amazon/AbeBooks doesn't have this. Wonder who's got reasonable shipping to the US?
  24. Thanks for that explanation of the accident and rolling stock. I wonder if everyone had been in structurally sounder coaches such as Cravens and Park Royals whether the outcome would had been different.
