  1. Three nice grounded coaches in use at 5-star at Glenlo Abbey hotel in Galway http://www.glenloabbeyhotel.ie/en/pullman-restaurant-galway/ Recently enjoyed by another forumite!
  2. I see the two baby GMs have been re-listed at lower prices http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111942571318 http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111942572100
  3. At least nice comfy seats (for those who had seats) unlike the fibreglass in 22k
  4. Thanks Fran. Any idea if and when you might be able to post some photos of pre-production samples?
  5. Well its better than Euro English The European Commission has announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU, rather than German, which was the other contender. Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had room for improvement and has therefore accepted a five-year phasing in of "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make sivil servants jump for joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of the "k", Which should klear up some konfusion and allow one key less on keyboards. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f", making words like "fotograf" 20% shorter. In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e" is disgrasful. By the fourth yer, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters. After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and everivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer. ZE DREM VIL FINALI COM TRU!
  6. Super scene. The colours in the foreground and background are so realistic. The background looks like a photo of a life scene.
  7. Very nice plan. You'll have some extra wiring for the reversing loops. The large Connolly station is going to look great in the middle of the layout. You could save a little floor space by doing away with the northern turntable, or by reducing its diameter. Love the terminus which looks like it will easily handle 7 coach rakes. What era are you aiming for?
  8. Sorry Fran PS: Btw, your original pic was a nice one
  9. At least a 29k is honest about being nothing more than bus tin on roller skates, but if I see another picture of a boring 22k pretending to be an intercity train I'll risk expelling my last meal.
  10. The more I read threads like this one and the more old pics of A and C classes I see, the more I sort of half wish MM were releasing an A class in the next 12 months rather than the 121. For anybody over 50 it was the most iconic and numerous loco to haul Irish trains from the mid 50s right through the 80s and at one time the backbone of the CIE era. I'm guessing some manufacturer might well produce it in the future!
  11. In fairness it looks like the sale of a deceased relatives stock, so therefore the seller may be unfamiliar with current market values.
  12. Do sellers not realise the going rate for baby GMs? No wonder there are no bids. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111935331141 http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111935332111 These RRP at between £95 new unused mint boxed in UK or between €105 and €120 new here
  13. CIE golden brown seems subtlety richer than the more orange IE/IR
  14. For me perhaps one day in the future a short 4ft diorama with a little 21mm track and a single converted MM141 might be fun.

    AddressPal

Agree. I find both excellent. However AddressPal is now the only inexpensive way to ship enamel paints from UK to Ireland as PM won't accept 'hazchem'. Daft calling tiny 14ml tins of modelling paint 'hazardous chemicals' but there you go. H&S insanity!!! UK retailers won't even post enamel paints to IOM or Isle of Wight

    AddressPal

Another advantage is the post office is closer to our home than the nearest PM collection point, and more importantly there is NO EXTRA COST penalty for late collection of a parcel from Post Office. I think after 48hrs if you haven't collected from PM there is a €4 extra charge per day, not so with AddressPal. Useful if you are away for a few days. For folks into painting it also means enamels and thinners can now be posted here from UK which is no longer possible via PM.
  17. Stunning Dave, just stunning.

    AddressPal

It usually costs less and some UK online retailers ship inside the UK for free It gets around UK suppliers who don't ship to ROI It is a great way to get enamel paints in tiny modellers tins shipped here without the need for daft 'hazchem' couriers (H&S insanity) A difference between AddressPal and ParcelMotel is PMs UK address is in NI which is off the GB mainland island, hence need for 'hazchem', but AddressPal's UK address is on the GB mainland.
  19. There are two segments on their TV advert showing a nice model layout with a super train livery A class hauling loose coupled freight stock. Anybody know anything about the layout featured? Shorter YouTube version [video=youtube;aRZWx-xJHDQ]
  20. JM can't spell for nuts, add to that predictive misspelling on iPad there's no chance of a typo free post!
  21. Hats of JM, that looks a real class job, especially for a first brass kit. Respect It looks the biz. If you have any pics of the hatchet job on the dapol chassis that would be great. Love the detailing.
  22. Some people just don't know how to 'sell'
  23. Question if you please. Were these double height beat wagons built by recycling bodies from open bulleids by placing one body on top of another on a longer chassis possibly also recycled from precious use, or were they a new build?
  24. Must be younger bones Agree its been a while since I've been on the enterprise, but it was very comfy and a big step up from City Gold service.
