  7. Looks good and must pay it a visit some day in June.
  8. Victoria Road has the station building in good condition and well.incorporated in business premises. The former goods buildings and other railway infrastructure are still there after 66 years. Some of these were protected by listed building status. This housing application first made in 2014 and refused more than once Then Derry City Council applied to get some of the station buildings delisted a few years back and achieved this despite local opposition. Now 3 years after that this horrible and crammed housing development got approval on appeal. As they say about planning laws in NI Money Talks!
  9. Thought that the episode last night was the worse one yet with the suggestion that the Giant Causeway Tramway ran to Larne Dread to think what they will do the Dundalk Newry and Greenore next week! Have contacted them over photos supplied and used such as Swilly images used for Waterford and CDR for Achill Narrow Gauge line but with no joy!
  10. The Engineering business were being sued by the SRPS who won their case for poor work and were awarded substantial damages that contributed to the Compamy being wound up.
  11. Basically in NI after most shops/pubs etc reopened Fridsy 30th you can travel where you want in NI Hotels and B&Bs to open doors again from May 24th. If IRRS are interested happy to host and arrange a visit plus Foyle Valley Museum telling people they will be open for June!
  12. Article on old CIE coaches of GS&WR origin in Backtrack September 2011
  13. Station building was listed until Derry City Council applied to have station delisted a number of years ago. This was achieved and know now why! Station canopes still there inside the modern showroom. Plan a special visit next month before it is too late
  14. Late on Friday evening news about the former CDR station appeared on the NI PAC website. Derry Council had turned down permission to build social housing on former station site. The PAC have overturned this decision and work to start very soon and this could threaten the historic station beside the bridge as well.
  15. MichaelHC Baker wrote an article in Backtrack about those very coaches
  16. There were some similar signs in Donegal near the Border
  17. Photos of a CDR Class 3 actually pulling a train of any type are as rare as hens teeth! They were intended to be used on the commuter like traffic on the CDR branch from Strabane to Victoria Road. Railway Bylines June edition will have an article by myself on the CDR Derry branch.
  18. Sorry David remember now which brother your father mentioned. Had not seen him for months until today on the Larne Line
  19. Thanks was chatting today to Galteemore Senior today. He mentioned some article about CDR Railcars in Garen Rail magazine?
  20. What is the email address for the person who has taken over Backwoods Models to contact about the Swilly and County Donegal models they used to produce?
  21. From memory yes as it was the last set to get a proper overhaul at York Road
  22. Note the rare later type of hopper windows on this set
  23. Phoenix was well known for short trip workings from Strabane to Lifford and back. Even in the last years the WTT allowed for 3 such workings from Mondays to Saturday.
  24. See this photo of the Sealink set at Whiteabbey
  25. One of the many stations closed in 1963
