  1. Proper old fashioned wood primer was pink Craftmaster Paints still do it and they describe it as extremely pink primer which i can vouch having just built an AA box out by my workshop a seven foot high box in pink definitely stands out(fortunately its now in a more subdued black with yellow highlights).Incidentally thats why threshing machines are always seen in pink as the manufacturers charged extra for the finishing coats.Andy.
  2. Sorry definitely Railcar 16,after the fire 18 was rebuilt with smaller front windows this was reversed when she was restored,it can't be 17 as she was gone by then, and neither is it 15 as the clue from the front is a taller vac pipe which is in line with top of the rad core whereas 16s only came up about 2/3rds.Andy
  3. I hate to say it but its Railcar 16 and i don't think its Donegal the signal for a start(no pun intended) is wrong.I would suggest its Strabane on the rump of the Derry line by the engine shed.Andy.
  4. Interesting to see 77T the T&Ds shy and retiring home built bogie bolster in the foreground.Andy.
  5. T o be honest by the time you've cleaned them up all the detail would have gone and you might as well scratch build ita good argument for etched brass.Andy.
  6. Ive got one of the MGW Brakes which is kept by my workbench as an awful warning Andy.
  7. I'd be inclined to say that Photo 4 is prewar as 12 has not been fitted with a front vac pipe yet and there are photos of her in 137 so fitted, also the use of one of the Red opens points to an earlier date incidentally the wagon is No2 which the books tell is supposed to be one the vans, but has never made sense from a dating point of view.Andy.
  8. It always interested me in how the various items of stock were coupled ,granted the locos had both couplings but coupling chopper centre couplings to three link with the added fun of buffering up with the distinct chance of a buffer punching out the corner of the narrow gauge vehicle.and yet most photos show both gauges of stock in trains.Memo to self must dig out the Avonside kit.Andy.
  9. Another reason for doing it as an outside cylindered loco is you don't have fabricate a crank axle.Andy
  10. The cut back luggage rack is a later modification on No8,as is the upright exhausts on both the 7&8. Andy.
  11. No problem, its an easy one to do in 4mm as well ,using thhe body kit from No Nonsense Kits and an Arnold TT Kof shunter chassis.Andy.
  12. Drawings for Rc's 7&8. Railway Modeller Sept 1987,also in the Peco Book of the Irish Narrow Gauge,As well as that theres also drawings in the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association Narrow Lines Extra No3,and The County Donegal Railways Companion.Hope that helps funnily i just had the chassis for Rc6 running on Brucklees.Hope this helps Andy.
  13. Well for what its worth my latest Donegal layout,(the fifth in the trilogy)is Brucklees with a grand total of two points. Andy.
  14. Just a thought, what value do you add to something by taxing it? Andy.
  15. They don't have to go to germany for a Class 52,the Nene Valley has one.Ironically it appeared in a series on British technology in WW11,with two British scientists on their way to the states with a Magnatron valve catching a train with it at the head.Classic ! 600 odd operational locos in the UK and they plump for the most inappropriate.Andy.
  16. One of the finest arguments i've for 21mm gauge was the photo in the Modeller of the 00 Works UG with the wheels showing behind the splashers.Andy.
  17. Coach bogies are no problem just use MJT coach bogies easily built to 21mm gauge, and use the existing sideframes as overlays.Andy.
  18. Bogie for Phoenix is no problem the Halling chassis is spot on ,both my Phoenix s use them(yes i do have both versions)it runs a treat. Andy.
  19. Best not mention the Donegal or Swilly rail or post rail ? Andy.

  21. I've done four of the DNGR coaches which were in the last New Irish Lines as well as a couple the GN bogies and very useful they are too(Could do with some pre war bogie stock though.Andy.
  22. It was always interesting to see the variations of Blue on 08 shunters coming into Swindon and leaving, pick a shade of blue!.ANdy.
  23. From personal experience most underframes end up a browny grey black from muck and brakedust.Andy.
  24. Personally i wouldn't bother too much about what colour the roof was painted as it would soon of ended up a grotty grey/black colour.Andy
