  1. Detonators are now kept in the cabs rather than the drivers having to carry them... was a freak accident sadly
  2. Patience, just start with lines/borders 1st, get them right and then experiment
  3. Stick (ahem) with the Tamiya, does not leave residue and if you gently apply it it wont bleed
  4. Theres your problem - Never skimp on paint and prep - Tamiya masking tape all the way. Marks Models in Dublin sell it You dont necessarily have to remove the old paint. Get a can of Halfords plastic primer, give it a blast and see how it looks then. Failing that paint stripper or brake fluid. Always do a test run with a cotton bud first though, could dissolve the plastic
  5. What brand of masking tape are you using and what base coat?
  6. http://www.railtec-models.com/scale-model-transfers.php?region=2&type=5&gauge=4mm
  7. The Euro shops do the kids fibre optic strands from time to time, even cheaper and battery operated......
  8. How many times have you burnt yourself with the soldering iron?? No pain, no gain
  9. Had a couple of ribs removed have we? I think the D part does all the work, your just along for the ride
  10. My sources are from within the trade. Hattons no longer being a stockist is more to do with how they sell the product rather than the product itself
  11. Hattons are no longer a Murphy Models stockist - that is all
  12. Whats the problem with being honest then?? Cant say anything at all now without being hopped on by the do-gooders brigade
  13. Im not being negative - Im being realistic.
  14. Of those 555 how many will actually actively do something more than offer encouragement via social media
  15. Not long to go now...
  16. Dont think they realised how bad/unreadable it would be, 078,085 and 087 all have their old numbers applied on the sides/ends along with the gobbledegook/phone number.....
  17. Least it only gets the UIC numbers on the ends, I miss the 'shadow' on the side numbers though, going back to GNRI days and especially with this particular loco
  18. The carraige washer at Connolly/Ossory Road has not worked for years, the most external cleaning they will get is the front of the loco washed at Connolly shed. Its a very intense diagram too, in terms of train weight and the various climbs on the route in either direction - Lusk, Kellystown and Mountpleasant among others
  19. Expressing any kind of satisfaction with certain Silverfox products. Some are good others are awful. Why are people shouting, screaming and roaring over Murphys current batch of Mk2's when they seem to be happy with locos that just dont look right at all, and nothing to do with the shade of orange.... Similar principles with both companies, someone saw a gap in the marketplace and went for it......
  20. There have been plenty of other 'bogged down' conversations and these have been let run.....
  21. You should JB, Id love to know if Silverfox consult anyone with regards to their Irish stock, as a lot of it is terrible
  22. Thanks for the pointing that out, I was wondering where the differences lay
  23. Filmed under fluorescent lights along with compression, hardly judgeable. Also the loco is the one in repainted CIE orange rather than original. Decide when the models are infront of your own eyes....
  24. It is IFM, thats their name on ebay...
  25. Living in the past - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-205159-IE-CIE-IRISH-RAILWAYS-CLASS-201-LOCO-216-RIVER-DODDER-MINT-BOXED-nc-/331422674305?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d2a54ad81
