    I've never seen a pic of a Murphy Bros open actually in use, just a builder's photo. I imagine they had a short Murphys branded life, probably sold to the GSR or CIE to become yet another anonymous looking grey, filth covered wagon.

    I assume the original doors got burnt out and they just used standard Inchicore doors rather than trying to source or replicate the old ones?

    I have seen something similar before and was told it was attached to a horse drawn vehicle belonging to one of the landed gentry. A sort of forerunner of a vehicle registration plate.

    The three Cork ng lines, had to be different, and adopted a central link and pin coupler rather than the 'chopper' aka Norwegian coupler.

    Had a similar issue (slipping axle gear) replaced FOC. Might be a bit light-duty for such a weighty loco?

    Grey was the standard colour by and large. A grey loco, weathered, cleaned and polished with oily rags for a special will appear black.

    Got a railcar set from them, bypassed customs, got them brought in as hand luggage. Have had enough of An Post fudging and being shaken down by Revenue.
