  1. It's likely that I.R.M. could have announced their next models years ago, however, it's far better that items are in an advanced state of production so when a new model is revealed it is accompanied by pictures of pre-production/engineering samples. Far better that way than in the past when we had to wait 3-4 years from announcement to the actual model appearing on the shelves. I've always found that waiting period very annoying so when the announcements do come there will be a much shorter lead-in time for them appearing on the shelves.
  2. Can't think why anyone bought them in the first place, were Irish modellers that desperate, REALLY?
  3. Hi Robert, thanks for that update. I'm looking forward to traveling to Wexford but, it's a pity that there'll be engineering works on the railway line so it'll be the bus for me. With not having been to a model railway exhibition in almost 2 and a half years I'll be just glad to see model trains operating on layouts.
  4. I'm surprised this thread garnered so much traction. Imagine how much traffic will be generated on this website when IRM next announce an actual new model.
  5. Any up-date regarding the Wexford Model Railway Club Annual Exhibition which will be happening this forthcoming Easter weekend? I'm certainly looking forward to it.
  6. It looks brilliant in that livery and can understand why it sold out on pre-order. Would be very tempted to get back into modelling British Railway stock but I'd have to sell the other kidney.
  7. Once again great pictures from irishswissernie, this is my favourite thread (except when IRM announce a new model). Have never been to Youghal but the station seems to be some distance from the town - is there a reason for this? Love the photos of trains on the streets of Cork, did any other city/town have trains (not trams) operating on their' streets?
  8. The Drumm battery trains were a very interesting experiment. Is there a thread on here dedicated to them as I'd like to find out more about these trains?
  9. While I'm posting this today [April 1st] I have to say that only a fool will pass on getting a silver A class. Never have I seen a model look so good in the natural sunlight - we've had plenty of that over the last three weeks or so [thanks to global warming]. No sure how many of these beauties are left but if there are any of you sitting on the fence regarding these I'd get them now 'cos there will be those of you posting in the future saying that you should have bought them when you had the opportunity. Once early period CIE wagons are produced these locomotives [A30] will be in demand. My only regret is that I didn't buy any of the A1.* *This is NOT a paid presentation
  10. To be honest, it's a bit nightmarish. It harks back to the day when I had to use all my powers of illusion to pretend that the Lima '33' was a Metro-Vick. Still haven't fully recovered from that experience. I feel the only cure for that is for IRM to announce a brand new model for the Irish modeller.
  11. You most certainly got the right look with that class 50 [004]. I've seen older models which have moulded rather than separately applied parts and a splash of weathering has taken them up to another level.
  12. The weathering in 50 004 is very impressive, gives a sense of realism. One of my A30s could do with a bit of that treatment.
  13. We're veering off topic 'cos there's not much else to say about the IRM A class. The sooner they announce a new model the better - I need to have something to look forward to.
  14. Hi All, See link below to Hatton's regarding the Hornby class 67 train pack. I spotted this on Euvirail's YouTube channel. It's a real bargain and the Class 67 is one of Hornby's better offerings. This train pack is being heavily discounted and, from my research, Hatton's seem to be the cheapest. Euvirail has a review of this bargain set on his YouTube channel. Regards Gerard https://www.hattons.co.uk/430692/hornby_r3750_belmond_pullman_train_pack_with_class_67_67021_in_pullman_livery_and_three_pullm/stockdetail
  15. I'm so tempted to get the A42, so delighted with my A55 and A30 models. The only sounds I want to hear in relation to the A class is when they [IRM] announce suitable passenger rolling stock to operate with them. I won't be bothering with the sound chip as I've only a single oval track but it's good enough for what I want. My Fleischmann IC EC coaches are a tad too long for the A class but will have to do for the moment.
  16. I'll never get bored talking about the A class.
  17. There's a bag of details which come with the A30 and I'm sure they'd improve the appearance of the already great locomotive but neither have the skills nor the tools to do same. My eyesight isn't great also, the only thing I can without wearing my glasses is a pint of Heineken. Wonder if many guys on here use the detailing packs which come with their' locomotives?
  18. Have to say, the A30 (silver livery) looked great glistening in the natural sunlight over the St Patrick's holidays. Spent most of the time admiring the impressive details that you can only really see in this livery [silver]. Can't wait until IRM produce some suitable passenger stock to operate with these beauties.
  19. It's the Dublin Bus 145, that's as good as it gets.
  20. What's 'facebook'? I'll be heading to Bray tomorrow [20032022] on shanks mare with the assistance of the 145. Pick up the odd rarity every now and then.
  21. I have two of these fine locomotives [A55], they're my favourite. Regretting now that I didn't buy the Crossley engine versions of these beauts earlier. If there are any of you sitting on the fence regarding them I'd seriously advise you to get off it now and purchase these.
  22. Hi Sean. From what I can remember the class 66 was introduced after the 201 [new]. The Class 59 was the precurcor to the 66 whereas the 201 [new] was designed in conjunction with Irish Rail.
  23. Robert, thanks for alerting us to that. Looking forward to the show so I'll be making my way to Wexford regardless. Have a friend who doesn't understand my interest in model railways but keeps offering to give me a lift to any of the exhibitions I want to go. Think he's a bit of a closet case.
  24. Can't wait 'til IRM release an even more up to date version of the A class!
  25. Would like to attend that show but three hours eachway on the bus is too long for an auld git like me.
