  1. Yes, have been looking at the Scale Trains line of GE locomotives. The ES44AC models in BNSF are nice, the NS heritage paint schemes are very tasty looking also.
  2. Lovely model of the SD 70. Have started getting into Railroad models, very impressed with my SDL39. Wouldn't mind getting a few SD40s, there's just something really American about the protruding platforms at the front and the rear of the locomotive.
  3. @Wrenneire - Would you seriously want any of that stuff?
  4. Thanks @The Derry Road, was wondering if anyone was going to post pictures/videos from Warley. I'm aware that Saturday wasn't busy but didn't know about the railway strike, sure, that'll be going on until after the Tories are out of power. Couldn't believe how much the entrance fee was, £18 is a lot of money, go mór mhór, during a cost-of-living crisis. Mind, I paid €8 into the MRSI exhibition and all I got to do was drink loads of tea and eat currant scones. Anyway, I'm sure that those of you who did attend Warley felt it was worth it as it's the bees' knees of model railway shows on these islands.
  5. 'We surprise nobody with a nifty class 50' - you sort of surprised me so I must be 'nobody'. Was thinking that Accurascale's next foray into the British 00 model railway market would have been with the class 70. Anyway, don't recall if there's been a new version of this prototype [class 50] produced for many years so it will be a welcome addition to anyone's British diesel locomotive fleet. Always felt that the 50s were better looking than the 47s, something to do with the head-codes being placed on the roof so unusual in that sense. I'm sure there'll be great demand for it. Just hoping someone else doesn't spoil the party by announcing a model of their version of the same prototype.
  6. Thanks for making me feel really bad about myself, now. Lesson learnt, won't post anything else on here relating to him.
  7. @Darius43, looks like you have so many models that you could have your own exhibition show. Keep those pictures coming.
  8. Hi Guys, I happened upon this as I was scouring the internet and discovered this [below] Beginning to think that a new low has been reached. Is this entertaining for the railway modeller, really! Click - Watch - Weep
  9. That's a brilliant idea, great way to promote the hobby. I'm sort of a non-committal type of man hence why I'm not married, however, will attend this open day as it might change my mind about joining a club.
  10. Wonder if this is going to be the only time Hatton's will dip their' toe into the Irish market?
  11. Really looking forward to the finished article.
  12. Great to hear. They'll be ideal for my currently unemployed A30 and A55. Anyone who didn't buy one of the silver As will be kicking themselves now that there's going to be something suitable for them to haul.
  13. Did the silver As ever haul six wheels coaches?
  14. There's a website called 'preservedthumpers.com' which deals with the subject of 'NIR thumper freight'. There's a photograph of a single Class 70 car hauling some fertiliser wagons. Very interesting website for those of you who want to learn about Thumpers.
  15. The last two times I was down in Wexford Town it was raining. The sun always shines on TV but not on Wexford. Mind, it's a great excuse to visit one of the local hostelries on the way home from the exhibition. Hope it's raining next time I'm down there........
  16. Well, the only reason I consumed so many scones at the MRSI exhibit was because the only alternative was breac and I'm not a fan of that, plus, I have a fondness for apple tart (hint-hint @ the caterers in Wexford). It might sound a tad sad but, for me, the real highlight is the café - the fact that the purpose of the exhibition is to display model railway layouts is purely consequential.
  17. Iarnród Éireann will have its obligatory engineering works that weekend so will have to bus it down to Wexford. Will be worth it for the tea, sandwiches and slices of apple tart, oh yeah, and the model railway layouts also!
  18. Very impressive weathering, really adds realism to the model. Funnily enough, my face is fairly weathered now but it took me 72 years to get it to this stage.
  19. Didn't have time to bitch as I was busy consuming copious amounts of tea and stuffing myself with loads of tasty currant scones.
  20. Hi All, not sure if any of you who attended the model railway exhibition last weekend paid much attention to the Accurascale stuff. It was quite difficult for me to view the models at this stand due to the congestion but, what little time I did get to look, I got to see the classes 31 and 37. They looked very impressive with a high level of detail and a quality finish. It'll be interesting to see how the Accurascale 37 will compare with the Bachmann version. The latter's release seemed to get a fairly muted response as, I'm sure, a lot of people asked themselves 'Why?'. Pity I didn't get the opportunity to study the other models in the display unit but I got a good look at the model I wanted to see [class 31].
  21. I recommend a visit to the cafe - the scones were very tasty, the Accurascale 37 and 31 looked very tasty also (not available in the cafe).
  22. Think I predicted this! Anyway, it was the obvious choice and don't think anyone could have any objections to this being IRM's next powered model. The 22,000s have transformed rail travel in Ireland and the production of these ICRs in model form may entice the younger generation into getting involved in the best hobby in the world.
  23. Have to say, the highlight of the show (for me) was the cafe. Had three cups of tea, a ham sandwich and a couple of extremely tasty scones.
