  1. @skinner75 - Great article, thanks for posting the web-link on here.
  2. For some reason or other I always thought that the open wagons and vans were painter either grey or brown and not the latter livery replacing the former so, until I read this thread, believed that the flying snail logo was on all of the wagons regardless of the colour scheme. I'm a big fan of the flying snail logo and a tad disappointed it didn't last very long. Can't wait 'til suitable stock is produced to operate with my A30 [silver].
  3. Not a fan of the Class 92 locomotive design, however, watched Dean Park Station's review of the model and he is really delighted with his purchase - just like everyone else who has posted a video on YouTube thus far. While he gave most aspects of the model a 5 'arrow' rating, he only gave it 4 in relation to value for money. Doesn't make sense to me because it's a quality and detailed locomotive for under 200£. Never look a gift horse.............. Saw the Caledonian Sleepers at Raheny and are very impressive. People who ordered them may be disappointed with the slight further delay in receiving their' models but, it's only a couple of extra weeks and will be worth the wait. They give a good idea of what to expect from IRM when they produce the IÉ mark IVs.
  4. Hi Guys, the video in the below is worth viewing. It's by Ruairidh MacVeigh of 'Motion History' fame and the story of the British Rail Class 50 is very interesting;
  5. Don't think any reviews have been posted yet but it'd be worth waiting for someone to evaluate this model before you go purchasing it. Hornby is more suited if you want a static model, think it's an old Lima mould but I'm open to correction.
  6. I see from a few videos on YouTube that customers are taking delivery of their' Accurascale Class 92s. The two reviews posted so far have been very positive. The person, who takes a few days to remove a model locomotive from it's box, hasn't posted a review yet. Wonder if Dean Park Station or Euvirail will post reviews as they really do a good job evaluating new products
  7. The locomotive to the fore in the second picture is very LMSish looking [HC Casserley negs]. Pity it didn't make it to preservation, a very beautiful looking steam engine.
  8. I totally agree with gm171 kk, it makes total sense for a model of a steam locomotive which is still running. Think the 461 is ideal as it'd appeal more to us Dubs as it's a former DS&ER locomotive. My money is on either 461 or 171 being produced as IRM's first steam locomotive.
  9. I sort of agree with you in this regards but, it seems, that models of these one off prototypes seem to sell very well. How does one define a 'niche' market, really?
  10. So Wrenneire! What you're say is that you paid a lot of money for two ornaments?
  11. This is what I'd be going for, the good ol Santa Fé. The SD40T-2 is a lovely locomotive also, see below below. Wonder if there'd be room on Tara Junction for them?
  12. If IRM is going to do steam my money would be on them producing a model of the preserved GNR(I)/CIÉ No.131. It's operational and ran both sides of the border. They'd be ideal to go with the RPSI Mark IIb coaches.
  13. It's most likely that we'll see models of the B101 or C201 classed before anything in steam arrives. Those locomotives are most likely to sell in great numbers and I can see us all still here in five years time speculating about which steam locomotive IRM are going to produce first.
  14. Wrenneire seems to have everything in Irish railway modelling that anyone would want. Murphaph should make that short journey from his home to Bray to pick up that original liveried 201(new) that he's looking for.
  15. My money is on IRM producing a model of the GSR 800 class locomotives, most people would want a few of those and ideal for anyone modeling the mid-50s.
  16. The best steam locomotive for IRM to produce is No. 4. It was one of the last steam locomotives to operate in the British Isles and it would be right in the middle (or end) of CIE's modernisation programme. It could run along side any of CIE's diesel traction which was in operation at the time of No.4's withdrawal from service.
  17. Darius43, thanks for posting that information, made for very interesting reading. Your other thread is keeping me busy, love how the NIR railcars are coming along.
  18. Can't imagine IRM ever producing a model steam locomotive for the Irish market as the demand just isn't there.
  19. Darius43, thanks for answering my query.
  20. Thought so, the models look different to anything I've seen in OO. Wonder if there'll every be an O gauge model of an Irish railway locomotive prototype, the A class is the ideal candidate if ever there was one!
  21. @ttc0169 - Thanks for posting those pictures. Is that a double OO or and O gauge layout (above)?
  22. Hi Darius43, I don't really know much about the British prototypes produced by Trix. How did they compare to other manufacturers at the time?
  23. Totally forgot about this one. Will be going to a party after work this evening so I'll be in some state tomorrow. Sure, it'll be a good show and I'm expecting some of you attendees to post pictures and/or videos as you have to make us jealous for not going. By the way, Following the announcement of the Queen's death last September I received a few texts from people who said that they thought of me when they heard the news! To this day they haven't explained why?
  24. I wouldn't be surprised, there was probably a North/South approach to the mentality of the people in both bases. Have to say, this is a very interesting thread. It's a pity that none of the unusual Northern stock survived into preservation.
  25. @Warbonnet, that's very decent of IRM. Pity you're not the landlord of my local pub, he increased the price of a pint [Heineken] by 20 cent yesterday - I am incensed. Will not darken the door of that pub for a very long time.
