  1. If IRM is going to do steam my money would be on them producing a model of the preserved GNR(I)/CIÉ No.131. It's operational and ran both sides of the border. They'd be ideal to go with the RPSI Mark IIb coaches.
  2. It's most likely that we'll see models of the B101 or C201 classed before anything in steam arrives. Those locomotives are most likely to sell in great numbers and I can see us all still here in five years time speculating about which steam locomotive IRM are going to produce first.
  3. Wrenneire seems to have everything in Irish railway modelling that anyone would want. Murphaph should make that short journey from his home to Bray to pick up that original liveried 201(new) that he's looking for.
  4. My money is on IRM producing a model of the GSR 800 class locomotives, most people would want a few of those and ideal for anyone modeling the mid-50s.
  5. The best steam locomotive for IRM to produce is No. 4. It was one of the last steam locomotives to operate in the British Isles and it would be right in the middle (or end) of CIE's modernisation programme. It could run along side any of CIE's diesel traction which was in operation at the time of No.4's withdrawal from service.
  6. Darius43, thanks for posting that information, made for very interesting reading. Your other thread is keeping me busy, love how the NIR railcars are coming along.
  7. Can't imagine IRM ever producing a model steam locomotive for the Irish market as the demand just isn't there.
  8. Darius43, thanks for answering my query.
  9. Thought so, the models look different to anything I've seen in OO. Wonder if there'll every be an O gauge model of an Irish railway locomotive prototype, the A class is the ideal candidate if ever there was one!
  10. @ttc0169 - Thanks for posting those pictures. Is that a double OO or and O gauge layout (above)?
  11. Hi Darius43, I don't really know much about the British prototypes produced by Trix. How did they compare to other manufacturers at the time?
  12. Totally forgot about this one. Will be going to a party after work this evening so I'll be in some state tomorrow. Sure, it'll be a good show and I'm expecting some of you attendees to post pictures and/or videos as you have to make us jealous for not going. By the way, Following the announcement of the Queen's death last September I received a few texts from people who said that they thought of me when they heard the news! To this day they haven't explained why?
  13. I wouldn't be surprised, there was probably a North/South approach to the mentality of the people in both bases. Have to say, this is a very interesting thread. It's a pity that none of the unusual Northern stock survived into preservation.
  14. @Warbonnet, that's very decent of IRM. Pity you're not the landlord of my local pub, he increased the price of a pint [Heineken] by 20 cent yesterday - I am incensed. Will not darken the door of that pub for a very long time.
  15. Not sure if any of you guys have as boring a life as I, which is the reason I happen upon some questionable websites but, there's one run by Doctor Hobby. It's worth a view to see his take on locomotives. He's based in the United States of America but he has a varied taste in trains so he reviews models from around the World. Give it a go and let me know what you think. The one good thing I can say about him is that it doesn't take him hours to unbox a locomotive.
  16. Delighted to see that this prototype is appearing in model form. Far more interesting than the locomotive which superseded it. Will it be a once only ever production run?
  17. Very true, this forum could end up becoming 'American Railroad Modeller'
  18. @Garfield - Thanks for that. Thought the previous website was dead and buried? Anyway, I'll access this forum through the Irish Railway Models website as I just have to scroll down and select 'Community'.
  19. @Georgeconna - Thanks for doing that, can't bring myself to click onto his website anymore, life's too precious to be putting up with that. Mind, it does give me some hope. If he can have a missus then there's some hope for me!
  20. Since yesterday, every time I log into this forum I am directed through a site called 'tapatalk'. Now I log on via the Irish Railway Models then select 'Community'. Why has this change come about?
  21. I see that Sam has posted a video on YouTube about 'Mean Comments'. Didn't think he read posts on this website. As suggested by someone on here, I didn't click on his Channel.
  22. Author Broithe Posted just now Bruce? And his Range, as well? You're getting them mixed up with Hornsby. Bruce is a one-hit wonder, I'd say that at his concerts he sings the same song over and over again for about two hours. That's just the way it is......
  23. @leslie10646- Looks like you had a great time at Warley, I'd say with it being quieter than usual you got plenty of time to admire all of the layouts and stalls.
  24. Hornby was overrated also.
