  1. I'm a tad depressed 'cos I sort of agree with some of the points DiveController is making.
  2. Who are these people who keep asking him [Sam] to unbox/review Irish locomotives? I'd say it's British railway modellers who want us to suffer as much as they have.
  3. Great stuff. Looks very realistic. Was finding it hard to differenciate between the photographs of the original building and the model. Seems like you got the texture for the concrete just right.
  4. That book plus the 13 new product announcements from I.R.M. for 2022 has certainly given us something to look forward to next year.
  5. I had a few Lima HO scale sets (CIE) back in the day. They were very basic and didn't look right. The Lima OO models were much better so those newly painted green coaches won't look out of place on your layout.
  6. @Westcorkrailway - Re above - Why do you get Lima HO vibes?
  7. That seems like an awful lot of hard work. Anyway, what's an Adams radial?
  8. Railway modelling isn't just all about shiney rolling stock and keeping boxes in pristine condition so the second hand value doesn't fluctuate. It about getting your hands dirty also. I'd love to be one of you guys who roll up your sleeves and get stuck in and create the model you want rather than being like me sitting here withering away in my chair waiting for the RTR version to appear.
  9. The class 201 would look great in that livery.
  10. @228RiverOwenboy - Thanks for the update and picture. Looks like 224 is for the scrapheap.
  11. What a pity the ITG didn't paint one of their As in that paint scheme, it would look great in those colours.
  12. Anyway, back to the subject in hand. Does anyone have any up-to-date information regarding the 224? It'd be interesting to find out why the superstructure failed.
  13. So would I.
  14. I didn't understand why Murphy Models brought out that set. Would have been much better if he'd produced the GAC/Bombadier buses. Pity yer man from RapldoTrains didn't spend so e time in Dublin.
  15. I'm on the fence regarding this livery on 134, I certainly like it on the 071s. Will be interesting to see what it looks like when completed and out in the open.
  16. The 201s have the charisma and power of Keir Starmer
  17. It had limited operational use. Should have bought fewer 201s and retained the A class.
  18. They're big in size and big in uselessness. At the time of their launch there were large parts of the network it couldn't operate on due to the condition of the infrastructure.
  19. The class 201(new) is an ugly locomotive. If locomotives looked liked that when I was a kid I seriously doubt that I'd have gotten into railway modelling. It has no redeeming features.
  20. I like the class 071 in it's current livery but tne Murphy Model version has the grab handles on the cab ends. Think the locomotive looks a lot better without the handles on the front of each cab.
  21. Why don't you do as the Brexiteers suggested and 'Take Back Control' [of your finances]? That's what I did, hence, the reason I'm on my own now.* I've a feeling that the next I.R.M. project will be either the B101 or the Class 22 000 (I've eleven guesses left). *Doesn't pay to take advice off me. That would have been the smart thing for me to do, otherwise, I wouldn't have mißed out on the opportunity to pick up two 036s
  22. Looks like Christmas came early for a few guys. It pays to log into this forum regularly.
  23. Jennifer E. Kirk has just uploaded her review of the I.R.M A class. Stumbled across a review from a Continental European railway modeller and he [Christian Bitter] was really impressed. He'd certainly know good value for mony when he sees it - a similarly detailed and quality HO model would be more expensive.
  24. Have to agree, the fan on the As is quite prominent and in a sort of way it'd be nice if it could be motorised, however (have never stated this before), I feel that the newer models are a bit too fussy and rotating fans together with rotating axle boxes and sprung buffers are a few things that can be done without. You can have all the bells and whistles you want but if you don't capture the character of the prototype then all else is futile.
