DJ Dangerous Posted January 13, 2023 Share Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) Hi All. Couldn't see a 1:43 vehicle thread so thought I'd start one. I'm sure I'm not the only one with some 1:43 vehicles. My interest is very specific so I only have a handful, and shall get the ball rolling with a DISM 1:43 Starlet. These usually go for €100 to €250 online but I got this one for €40 as the plinth was broken, the front bumper is damaged and the rear spoiler is missing. These have a special place in my heart, as do the EP71 Turbos, because I've been driving both for over twenty years, now... Anything newer than the year 2000 is the Devil, with the odd exception. That's a blast from the past, Dave. I had a lump of that Corgi stuff back in the day. My two Ford Continentals, were without doubt, my favourites of the lot. These cars looked black in real life but had a very faint green flip / tint, which Hi-Story have managed to replicate. Think he's from the Netherlands and he visits shops which specialise in model road vehicles, certainly worth a watch. Have to confess that I don't remember ever seeing a white one. EP71 Turbos and Glanza Turbos, sure, but just can't place one of these. Again, lovely detail. DJ Dangerous Posted June 3, 2023 Author Share Posted June 3, 2023 Cheap enough 1/43 scale trucks! Edicola brand, made in Bangladesh for a Spanish company. I'd say that they're somewhere between toy and model. Nice detail, mainly plastic construction with a diecast cab. The glazing is very very thick and there are fingerprints on the inside of the glazing. The cab is modelled inside but my camera can't focus through the glazing. Some of the tyres melted a bit in transit, and one of the wing mirrors snapped off, along with the fuel tank, so they had to be glued back on. Decal work on the trailer is not perfect, but I expect too much when it comes to decals - straight lines etc. There are some casting marks visible on some parts, and the trailer could do with extendable legs. Packaging is sufficient. Cardboard backing, transparent plastic cradle and a transparent bubble cover. Have only opened one of them, G1N0E006, the Dodge, but for €20 each I'm very happy. Breakfast rolls, now there's a blast from the past, can't beat sausages! Yeah, the scale difference is more apparent with the 2,6m boxes, specially with the newer, taller cab, so I chose a 2,9m for the photo. The length isn't too noticeable, 12,2m is about 28cm in 1/43 and about 25cm in 1/48. It'll only become a problem when IRM release their 42' flats in O Gauge... Altaya seems to be a very unbranded brand, made in Bangladesh, no model no. or anything on the box. Edit: Found the Scania 141 on the Altaya website, article no. 42, released 28-04-2017.
