Gabhal Luimnigh Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Love the platform, I think you should remove all that ballasting and start again though

Think of all the therapy I could be missing 1
derek Posted March 10, 2024 Author Posted March 10, 2024 My ol footbridge leaves a lot to be desired. It really is the definition of scratch built. (more scrap built). The framework is pieces of red deal (pine), the mesh is just that- plasterers angle bead, and the handrails are insulation from electric cable. Made years ago when I thought one could get away with stuff like that. In other words, before I saw the standard of modelling on here. The sooner @RobertRoche s footbridge becomes available the better, as far as I am concerned 5 1 1
Galteemore Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 For a scratch built 4mm effort, that’s pretty good going. Some nice finishing of newel posts etc. 1 1
Gabhal Luimnigh Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 A coat of rust and it's dandy, the bling colour scheme has to go Derek 1
derek Posted April 15, 2024 Author Posted April 15, 2024 With the recent arrival of some brown cement wagons from Leslie, this train is fast becoming the @leslie10646 special. When I finally get around to assembling the two cattle wagons and the brake van I also got from him, it will really complete the picture. Those wagons of his are superb. 3 1 1
leslie10646 Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Thanks, Derek, for the good reference! The layout is coming on very well! Keep it up. Leslie 1

Gabhal Luimnigh Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Nice pics there Derek and I have to agree with you about those wagons, they are top drawer, I love them too. 1
derek Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 The latest bit of work done on the layout was to replace the old MDF walls around the church, with DAS clay ones. Took quite the while what with doing curved walls and then making, and fixing, capping stones individually. I did some work on the grass and paths as well while I was at it. A wise man once said to me that this is a hobby for maniacs and lunatics. I'm beginning to see what he meant, but I think it was worth the effort. Here's the before and afters anyway........ before: and after: 12

derek Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 Needed to finish landscaping the area to the left of station, in front of the tunnel, before I moved on. Gonna have a road leaving the town (from the corner of churchyard) , with a bridge over the track, so I had to do landscaping first as access would be difficult afterwards.. Pics explain it better . The area is not really accessible except by rail so I went for a disused, neglected look. Hope it turned out ok. Anyway have a look......... Landscaping..... early days with bridge Position of bridge 10 1
Gabhal Luimnigh Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Mighty stuff Derek, I love the new bridge 2 1
Metrovik Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Foliage tied together lovely. Great looking bridge too. 1

Gabhal Luimnigh Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Excellent, they are the dogs bollo&, well wear Derek. 1 1
derek Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 The carcass of the humpbacked bridge, to the left of the station.... Here is the 6mm MDF road with the thickness reduced in places to bend to the bridge... Not great pics of the MDF, but you get the idea.... I hope 7
Gabhal Luimnigh Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 The bridge looks great Derek, the photographer for the road should keep his day job 1
derek Posted June 16, 2024 Author Posted June 16, 2024 Bridge in and painted. Road also in place.... Scenery next....Well that messy white aeroboardy stuff before the actual scenery I suppose 6 1
