Reminds me of childhood trips to the beach at Gormanstown though we always travelled by car, though there was the excitement of main line trains (steam and railcar) rumbling across the viaduct 3 Quote

jhb171achill Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I presume the wagons are stored there on a Saturday to allow a clear run for several rugby specials on the main line, seein' as it's this time of year? Onwards to Barrack St. later in the day....... 1 1 Quote

Galteemore Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) Lovely Patrick. Where did you get the lettering transfer on the van please ? I need a 7mm equivalent……. a set of vacuum pipes would set that lovely GN van off nicely, btw, seeing as it’s in ‘fitted’ livery Edited February 20 by Galteemore Quote

Tullygrainey Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Leslie will correct me if I'm wrong but they look like Railtec transfers. I've checked the Railtec site and they offer a range of GNR(I) options but nothing in 7mm unfortunately David. Might be worth an email though because they do have other 7mm stuff in their catalogue. 1 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Some small but impressive detail items going onto the layout tomorrow, resin prints by Owen O’Neill. Lovely!!! The dodgy paint job is mine 10 Quote

Patrick Davey Posted February 28 Author Posted February 28 I haven't been overly happy with this little chap, a disused kiosk I built for my beach: So I decided to replace it with a more detailed one, assembled from items in the spares box: 12 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted February 29 Author Posted February 29 (edited) I have done a bit of remodelling today of the last unfinished corner of the layout: an intended bus turning circle in the forecourt looked a bit too tight to be even remotely realistic, so I have changed it into a simple parking area with a suggested turning circle now located through a new gateway to the right: Still a bit tight overall but the effect is generally acceptable I think. A lot of DAS clay was used so once this dries fully I will paint the road surface grey. Edited February 29 by Patrick Davey 10 Quote

Patrick Davey Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 I definitely have an addiction for creating small buildings….. The regular bus drivers at Clogherhead started protesting that they had nowhere to sit in comfort whilst awaiting the arrival of passengers, other than in the actual buses. So the kindly management of the GNR generously provided a small shelter for them, and of course they had to put their familiar architectural stamp on it….. 15 1 Quote

Patrick Davey Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 New arrival at the bus station at the railway station: 7 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 (edited) The buses have moved in to the new bus staging area outside Clogherhead station, leaving their tell tale signs on the ground….. in GNR days a fleet of buses would shuttle arriving holidaymakers to and from the beach, a service which was reduced later on after a walkway was opened linking the station directly to the beach. CIE continued to provide the basic shuttle service after their 1958 takeover of the GNR. Edited March 6 by Patrick Davey 11 Quote
