As I posted on one of the bookface pages, it shows just how utterly dull the modern railway scene is, when excitement is caused by a light engine trundling a few miles down a commuter line, or (worse) some sort of yellow contraption is out'n'about.....!

IE's bad enough, but NIR is a diet of two very slight variants of a soiltary basic type of railcar.............and zero goods trains!

Was it out for driver training/ route refresher or post overhaul test?

The 111s don't get out much nor is there much use for them anymore.

Driver training as by the end of 2024 no driver had valid assurance to drive the Blue GMs

Just noting the interesting external handbrake cover on the wheel. I take it these now have a different system than the new electronic one fitted to the 071s.

Is there any truth the the NIR 111s can no longer be used to haul or move the RPSI Mk2s are strictly restricted to wagon moves only now?

And from the horse’s mouth, NIR’s response to a freedom of information request:

“The Class 110 locomotives are no longer used as passenger trains by
Translink or available for third party passenger charters. They are used for shunting within a Yard, hauling Flatbed Wagons and Ballast Hoppers around the NIR network and other non-passenger
operations.”

Taking a look through my rose-tinted spectacles to scan a few of my old photos, here she is on sabbatical down south:

112 drags 153 below Waterford box, 215 just visible on the Dublin service:

Same place, same loco, different occasion:

On this occasion I'd rather have had an orange one! A very gloomy day as 112 heads an empty beet train across the Barrow Bridge:

And finally, a passenger service; this was a very memorable railtour!
