Nope. Freight runs during the day but no freight goes south of Portarlington. Bizarre a freight train is blocking up around Ballybrophy. Must be a permanent way working.

Not at all, little freight in the 80- 2005 block freight trains ran late into the wee hours , you could stand, say at Limerick Junction and watch all sorts of freight flows passing during the day.

 

In fact, I think due to rostering, very little ran in the late night hours, certainly looking at various WTTs anyway. Give the historical realtively low passanger train frequency , it's easy enough to find day light paths for freight operations. Today it's trivial

Sense of humour! This happened in Ballybrophy which is a long way from Cherryville or Portarlington where the Waterford and Mayo lines diverge. Assume this was a PW working as this section of the Cork line hasn't seen Freight since 2005/06.

The midday Heuston to Cork has failed at Ballybrophy - it seems like it might still be there now..

Overall, 1200 Heuston - Cork arrived at Cork +50 minutes. 1300 Heuston - Cork arrived at Cork +5. 1520 Cork - Heuston (next booked working of the 1200 set) departed Cork +20
