warb Posted March 29, 2019 Author Posted March 29, 2019 houses in situ on barrow street and make up of the doors 9 Quote
jhb171achill Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 This layout continues to fascinate - all too often scenery is incidental to a baseboard crammed with more tracks than Victoria station, which is art-form to operate but not necessarily to look at. I knew Barrow St & surrounding area well as a child, and this captures it perfectly. 2 Quote
Broithe Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 It's time the OPW considered this for National Monument status. 2 Quote

David Holman Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 It all seems to be coming together splendidly. Trains in an urban setting have rarely been done as well as this. 1 Quote
DART8118 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 First posting was April 12, 2018 so happy birthday, Warb and barrow street and many thanks for a very informative and entertaining year. Barrow Street has brought new standards to modelling. Always a joy to see new photos and read of progress. 1 Quote
warb Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Thanks Did not realise it is one year on and where did it go. There has been many ups and downs in the last year and with so much still to do to try and get Barrow Street over the line.Hopefully Barrow Street has helped others to have ago and I would like to thank certain people who will remain nameless for giving a hand over the years and also giving me a kick to move Barrow Street on.(Now for the part i am not looking forward to doing ie the overheads it will be a while) regards warb 4 Quote

Broithe Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I'm having flashbacks (or flashovers) now.. In my previous life, I had some entertaining events with porcelain insulators. If you ever had any particularly crunchy (nut) cornflakes, that could have been bits of the one that I blew up next to the Kelloggs factory in Manchester... Be careful when you first turn it on 1 Quote
David Holman Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 That looks like an awful lot of knitting! I think every layout builder must have jobs that just need doing and get completed with a certain amount of suffering. Ballasting and wiring certainly two of mine. Got to be worth the effort though and will add yet another dimension to a superb layout. 2 Quote

warb Posted April 23, 2019 Author Posted April 23, 2019 DART8118 Train-Tech units not as easy with lenz dcc unit, still don't know how I got to programme it. But once you have it takes a while to programme all info in as it can only be done a letter at a time.Prior to this make a full list you want on unit before programming. But once mastered adds a different dimension. regards warb Quote
Broithe Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 The way this is heading, you have to wonder how long it will be before the carriages will have seat reservation displays... Quote
warb Posted April 25, 2019 Author Posted April 25, 2019 (Now for the part i am not looking forward to doing ie the overheads it will be a while) Started back on overhead catenary a real pain 14 sections to be made overall. 8 3 Quote
David Holman Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 That makes fretting out coach panelling look an absolute breeze! Necessary I suspect, in order for robustness. It also looks rather fab already, so all power to your soldering. Quote
