Such a shame the anything Irish is sold out before it even hits the shelves

Supply and demand. If enough were produced to satisfy demand, pricing would have to be affordable. Keep the quantity low and they can charge as much as they like. People will climb all over one another to get these.

I understand you completely. This has been that way of Irish economics from my youth and possibly long before that. God forbid there should be one left over. The sad part is the vendor likely could have increased his bottom line and satisfied demand.

Anyway, its a lovely model albeit this green on modern buses is not my favorite

Gorgeous looking model alright, amazing detail, simply amazing.
At least MM and IRM have broken that mold, constantly doing larger and larger runs to satisfy demand.

Due in January, all are sold out since the announcement months ago

So annoyed (massive understatement!) that this was only announced through Facebook, as I left Facebook over a year ago.

I have the previously released models - the KD, & the Atlantean D, but this Van Hool Atlantean is my fav of all time. If anyone has ordered double, and wants to swap the second for one of these, message me here

Hopefully, somebody else starts releasing buses like this, in bigger runs, so that they're available to buy rather than wink wink nod nod Facebook groups.

Such a pity - Facebook is rotten - I had to leave it

I've talked to the producer of these and asked if he could post about them here in future too. I'm sure there will be further runs of the Van Hools so you wont miss out. I hope there will be anyway as I missed out myself...

You mean by another manufacturer? A world-reknowned manufacturer of cutting edge Irish Railway Models?

Nope. We don't compete with first class products and the resin Van Hool is certainly that. There were a few runs of the KD Bombardiers and the Standard D Atlanteans from the same stable, so imagine it will be the same for the Van Hools.

Who is the actual manufacturer or brand on them?

I reckon so too - definitely in tan, as this was the livery they ran with for most of their life.

The first Bombardier models were a joint project by Derek Farrelly and Adrian Richards. I think the Atlanteans (and any subsequent high spec resin models from that stable) were a solo project by Derek Farrelly.

No brand as such, as it is a bus enthusiast releasing highly detailed models that would have never seen the light of day otherwise. The models are manufactured for Derek/Adrian by one of the Hong Kong based manufacturers that specialise in such commissions.

Thank you.

That's probably why it's so hard to find out much about the models.

Derek and Adrian have also been behind some of the BritBus commissions, that much I do know, and I've bought some directly from Adrian.

I'd be interested in a err-run of D Atlanteans myself

Derek was releasing a different model or two each year for the last few years, but Covid has delayed the last models (announced Oct 2019) which are still being produced at present.

If you are not on Facebook, the models by Derek are normally mentioned on the britishmodelbuses website when first announced. However, the quantities are normally small, so you need to get your order in fast. I think this is because he has to stump most or all of the cost up front himself.

Adrian has released a number of Britbus Dublin Bus related buses over the last few years.
