  1. Carriage looks fabulous. And you’ll make short work of the etches I think….Swilly engines were famously clean so those brass spectacle rims will look rather splendid gleaming against the deep green cab front…..
  2. Great work
  3. Inspiration for those who may wish to make their Manors seasonal - as seen in Swindon today….
  4. Or railbus. May 1950 Dromahair
  5. Fabulous. Can’t imagine which Co Antrim coastal town inspired this…..is the ballast area called ‘Magheraless’? ;
  6. Fabulous. Note the mail being loaded on to 2A. A far cry from the 4-4-0 hauled ‘Mail’ of the 20s!
  7. Incredible Patrick. Could pass for 7mm. Very nicely done.
  8. Nice model of a very distinctive class.
  9. Now that’s most interesting. Yes I did build ‘Halstead’ and showed it in part finished form. Then I started building an Irish loco for it and that was that! Layout sold and 5’3” I went. Oddly enough I had been thinking this week of a Lyddlow too as a test bed (my engines can spend long months with no use, which I need to rectify by having a simple layout close to hand). So it’s quite striking to see yours in progress. Can’t wait to see what you produce!
  10. Talking of rails, what’s the track plan Bob? Really looking forward to this - another 36.75mm layout and not a million miles away from me either…
  11. Know what you mean. Got the makings of a 1980s Hornby catalogue cover
  12. Very interesting. Reminds me of Bandai Shorty trains…..https://www.japanrailmodelers.org/pages/modelingjapan/btrainshorty-pt1.html - photo from website shows how short they are compared to a scale model. Allows long trains and tight - very tight - curves!
  13. Quick work Bob. Looking forward to seeing this develop. Nice little GER loco too…..
  14. Cheers Ernie. That view of the bufferstop at Oldcastle is most helpful - I know now what Florencecourt’s looks like close-up!
  15. The Sligo tanks had a reputation for being heavy on coal. They are not passenger locos (90% of SLNC passenger traffic was diesel by time of their arrival in 51) but designed for the hard slog of hauling 25 wagons of cattle over a badly laid 45 mile long rollercoaster. The UTA never used them, even when less than a decade old, for anything other than freight in regular service. 131 is ideal for the RPSI’s Dublin runs with the necessary grunt and acceleration- arguably a U would be even better ….if only we had one!
  16. That’s a very nice piece of work / good effort on the peculiar 800 class blue/green paint shade too.
  17. Nice work Alan. I use Sainsbury’s bathroom cleaner or Viakal. Spray on, scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse.
  18. Ahem…..Lough Erne is a main line loco…the SLNC had no branches
  19. And BCDR 30 worked the County Down branches….what IS true is that 90 is the only true branch line loco likely to steam in preservation.
  20. Lovely work on the coach David. Real Swilly lines about it. As for the Barclay, if anyone can find a way, you will ! That 7mm scale ruler is a fab tool, isn’t it?
  21. Lovely convincing scene. Just need to get ModelU to produce a figure of the young @jhb171achillin flares taking a photo……
  22. And here it is…just bought one of his other kits as I can’t justify this one running in Leitrim!
  23. Well done - looks great. My eyes tend to glaze over doing work like that
  24. Ok. It’s the track then. If you can abolish that s bend then do so - most stock hates alignments like that.
  25. Great news Bob - you know it makes sense! Happy to pop over some day and compare notes again…..
