  1. Rails of Sheffield’s Advent Calendar has been rather flacid this year, but today’s offering tops the steam locos for £110 GBP the other day! Heljan O Gauge Class 37 for only £375 GBP! In that gorgeous grey, too. Heljan O Gauge Class 26 for only £325 GBP, in classic BR blue. Both are £20 GBP cheaper than usual today.
  2. Can't help with the batteries, but you can probably figure it out if it's one battery, or two, required to match the voltage marked. My understanding is that the lights stay on permanently once wired, and the wand is the only way to switch them off without removing the batteries.
  3. Thanks, @Mayner! I had it the wrong way around in my head.
  4. Wasn't there also something about the brakes or suspension? These IRM / Heljan models have the 1980's brakes or suspension whereas somebody else (Bachmann?) released one with the original 1960's fittings?
  5. Looking at €350 odd plus import taxes on eBay. Saw some on Adverts.ie s few weeks ago for less, maybe €280. Wrenneire will Probably have some at non-gouger prices. Almost included Chris Dyer in that sentence. Jesús.
  6. Quick bump for this thread. Great prices for anybody who missed out, specially seeing what they go for on eBay.
  7. Another lovely Accurascale Class 37 arrived the other day; 37258 in Engineer's "Dutch" livery:
  8. Sure why not? An NSE blue and a GWR green would be nice.
  9. Gotta try bag me one or two Mk2C's now that @MOGUL has the website working again. Awesome awesome update.
  10. I thought that they were "nearly all" gone? And where's the pic of the bike???
  11. The "Email Me" button disappears after a second or two, at the same time that the price updates to include VAT. Is it moved to somewhere else, or disabled? Is there another way of getting yourself on the Stock Notification list? Two screenshots attached.
  12. The bolt head work on the windscreen frame is outstanding.
  13. Have you tried installing them on an empty 42' flat?
  14. We'll have to wait for @Rob to get on his bike.
  15. Looks and sounds as fabulous as ever.
  16. Maybe you guys could start a different thread to discuss politicians and air your opinions on their attire.
  17. Well, I'd look at running batons the length of the board, too, as per previous post.
  18. You work in An Post head office??? Well, I have a bone to pick with you guys and your missing CN23's!!!
  19. RIP, Chris. Very sad to read this. Chris was a lovely lovely man. Made a huge contribution to the Irish model railway scene, and I'm sure there are plenty like me who were in his debt with the gems he used to procure at fair prices. He had one of my grey 071's and I hadn't heard anything from him about it in a long time. Guess now I know why.
  20. You could also run additional 20mm x 20mm beams (called batons?) along the baseboard, just inside where the 9mm side panels will run. The 20mm x 20mm would be strong enough to glue and screw in place, and you could then glue the 9mm to the baseboard, while also gluing and screwing it laterally to the 20mm x 20mm, giving strength, rigidity, and holding the "floppy" sides in place. A cheaper and easier way of salvaging your work, I'd say, rather than starting over, which you’re probably thinking about. Adding lateral bracing beams and painting with some sort of cheap primer will still be required. Rough diagram:
  21. 9mm wide is probably too thin to put a screw into without splitting it. You'll need a good few 439mm cross-members.
  22. So, would the new IRM / Heljan Esso chassis also suit Tar tanks?
  23. Agree 101% there, @derek! A stitch in time saves nine. Also, what dimensions are the beams that you've used, @LNERW1? The photo was a bit fuzzy, so it's hard to be fully sure, but they look a little thin. If they're able for it, I'd be drilling down into the centre of each beam from the baseboard, and adding a screw, while the glue is still maleable. Not sure how many screws they'd need for each beam, but a few anyway.
  24. My Hunslet order also has free shipping, but my wagon order doesn't. Maybe the Hunslets were an exception and all have free postage.
