  1. Brrrrrrringgggg. "Hello?" Oscar Wilde called, he wants his sarcasm back. As @minister_for_hardship, @Galteemore and @JasonB have all said, it's about the numbers. You can't take just one piece of 1984, slot it into today and expect it to behave the same. I posted this in the other thread on the same topic, basically agreeing with the lads above, but with two threads on the same thing, the topic can become muddy:
  2. I think @JasonB means that the world has changed in the past 40 years. Progression in some areas and regression in some areas. This particular thread is about progress. Almost nobody cares about catering on the trains, people just want to get around quickly. Wages and prices are in an ever-increasing spiral, and in order to keep up, everything else needs to be stripped back. If we go back forty years, to the days of catering on trains, Ireland was broke, nobody had anything, nobody could afford anything, the trains were lovely to look at but crap to travel on, it was a different world. Adding things like catering back in would literally be throwing money away for nothing.
  3. Just devine. These 1:18 trucks are something else! Scaniaaaaaaaa!!!!!
  4. Resistance is futile!
  5. Thread-merge alert!
  6. And then what? The article was published in a later edition? Or Alan said "Naaaaah, I've changed my mind, stuff your Bandon Tank"?
  7. You win the internet for today! Just take a look at what gets posted here on the forum!
  8. Does anybody else on the forum have any of the HUO's?
  9. Have you any cost/benefit figures on catering services? Initial start-up cost, operating costs, cost of infrastructure required on trains and at stations, insurance costs, licencing costs, plus the occasional lawsuit when some Negative Numpty says that they got food poisoning? Vs. Increased income to cover the costs and turn a profit? Boooooooooo! Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!
  10. Kontakt - Show Me A Sign: While @jhb171achill is listening to:
  11. I wonder what else went that same route!
  12. How about a bold, new, serviceable livery, that's also been tried and tested? Like, all-over orange with a black band and twin white stripes!
  13. Thanks for sharing, @Rob! Your poor performance at East Wall is partially forgiven. Holy crap, they look gorgeous! It's great to read positive things like this, instead of the usual IE-bashing. Keep it up, IE, you're all we have. EDIT: Hmmmmmm, now that I scrutinise the seat-cover design more intensely, is it just me, or does it look like every single seat is occupied by a girl in a dark swimsuit and swimming cap?
  14. What's the difference between a B4 and a B5? Should the generator vans have one B4 and one B5?
  15. One for my fellow O Gauge buddies; Rails of Sheffiels have Dapol Terriers going dirt cheap: https://railsofsheffield.com/products/dapol-7s-010-015-terrier-a1x-plain-black
  16. So some DMX you mean? Nice! @Broithe's fault that this is stuck in my head: Raven Maize - The Real Life.
  17. Always loads of 8H22's on eBay, dirt cheap: https://www.ebay.es/itm/404814478647
  18. S##t, was hoping an O Gauge one WAS around the corner! Although I have to disagree with you on the quality, the pics in the first post here are sublime. Somebody, possibly @popeye, has posted pics of 3D stuff in their workbench thread, and it can produce exquisite results.
  19. Opened up some of the grey HUO's today and got them on display. Cracking wagons, but I think that we REALLY need an Irish wagon to run on that 32mm track!
  20. I believe that the topic of smuggling counterfeit A's has already been discussed elsewhere, and while trying not to be as rude and uncouth as I usually am, the smooth lines and rounded edges of the A would likely make them a favoured candidate over an 071 or a 141, when it comes to smuggling.
  21. At the risk of opening a can of worms here, and I love opening cans of worms, the only real limits are moral and financial. 3D printing makes it very easy to copy somebody else's work without putting in the graft that they did in the first place. This is what China has been accused of for decades, stealing technology, reverse-engineering and basically copying others work while skipping the initial set-up cost. I assume that there is some sort of association for those who make 3D prints, with some kind of guidelines and standards, much like the NMRA etc?
  22. Do something stupid like jumping off your roof in a shopping trolley while live-streaming to YouTube. Accurascale will not only give you a loco, but will show up in person to sign your various casts. Only have one myself, Heljan's "Courageous", but am looking forward to adding two Accurascale variants to the fleet!
  23. Oh my goodness, a revelation just hit me... These are going to be O Gauge instead of OO Gauge, aren't they??? Can I stop buying Accurascale HUO's and start buying IRM Bubbles instead??? You're running out of HUO's anyway, no pack I nor pack N available.
  24. For their eBay store?
