You work in An Post head office??? Well, I have a bone to pick with you guys and your missing CN23's!!!

RIP, Chris. Very sad to read this. Chris was a lovely lovely man. Made a huge contribution to the Irish model railway scene, and I'm sure there are plenty like me who were in his debt with the gems he used to procure at fair prices. He had one of my grey 071's and I hadn't heard anything from him about it in a long time. Guess now I know why.

You could also run additional 20mm x 20mm beams (called batons?) along the baseboard, just inside where the 9mm side panels will run. The 20mm x 20mm would be strong enough to glue and screw in place, and you could then glue the 9mm to the baseboard, while also gluing and screwing it laterally to the 20mm x 20mm, giving strength, rigidity, and holding the "floppy" sides in place. A cheaper and easier way of salvaging your work, I'd say, rather than starting over, which you’re probably thinking about. Adding lateral bracing beams and painting with some sort of cheap primer will still be required. Rough diagram:

9mm wide is probably too thin to put a screw into without splitting it. You'll need a good few 439mm cross-members.

So, would the new IRM / Heljan Esso chassis also suit Tar tanks?
-
Agree 101% there, @derek! A stitch in time saves nine. Also, what dimensions are the beams that you've used, @LNERW1? The photo was a bit fuzzy, so it's hard to be fully sure, but they look a little thin. If they're able for it, I'd be drilling down into the centre of each beam from the baseboard, and adding a screw, while the glue is still maleable. Not sure how many screws they'd need for each beam, but a few anyway.

Any OO models available of DFDS Container Pocket Wagons?

My bad, forgot that he only wanted the DFDS CPW's! -

Have a look on YouTube and see what suits. The Bell boxes would probably have been retired before the CPW's came along. Lys Line and Cronos boxes on that one for sure. MSC and CMA-CGM boxes on that one. -

That's the one! Maybe a mod could merge the two threads. Have a look through @Arran's website, I'd say there are loads of Irish-ish 40' boxes: https://shop.c-rail-intermodal.co.uk/ -

I'm almost sure that @MOGUL recently posted about butchering some Dapol CPW's to make them look Irish. -

Browsing the Accurascale Project Status Page, and the Class 50's are showing as in-production, and expected this quarter... That's probably a little optimistic? -
Some amount of work in that! Adding an additional cross-member, or several diagonal cross-members, will add rigidity, and hold the sides where you want them.
