I saw about three of them pass through Hatton's last week. Nearly sure that one of the three was a junker, but all three went for £200 GBP plus. Tempted to let one or two of my own duplicates go and buy newer running numbers, as I'm sure a few people are, but not sure if it's worth the hassle, and not sure if I'll regret it a few months down the line.

Is there an Alternative to Soldering?
DJ Dangerous replied to DJ Dangerous's question in Questions & Answers
I don't mind taking it somewhere to have it repaired, that's not an issue. I just wanted to explore options that might benefit modellers. There have been a handful of posts on here about damaged PCBs and repairing PCBs. -
A few horns, you say?

Remaining Class 92 and Mark 5 Delivery Update

Cheers, @Si2020 . It's just to test the loco, and I was afraid of doing damage. -

So would a drop of standard Super Glue in the centre, combined with silver glue on the contacts, work? -
Is there an Alternative to Soldering?
DJ Dangerous replied to DJ Dangerous's question in Questions & Answers
I've seen syringes of silver glue on Amazon, designed for repairing contacts on PCBs, but am not sure if they're any use. I have three 'phones that have been dropped and knocked once too many, including the one I'm typing on, so need to get them working again. -
Is there an alternative to soldering for circuit boards? I'm assuming that Super Glue etc are insulators rather than conductors? Not actually railway related - I'm replacing the battery in a mobile and one of the two connectors broke away from the board. The other unclipped fine. Just thought that IF there is a solution, this might be applicable to the PCBs in locos as well. Very hard to get them in focus for the photos as they're so tiny, these are the best I could take. The connector that broke away should be to the right of, or above, depending on your perspective, the "2". I do have a soldering iron but the tip is bigger than the whole connector here!

Remaining Class 92 and Mark 5 Delivery Update
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in British Outline Modelling
What happens if I put an A Class LokPilot into a Class 92? Does it blow up or does the motor burn out or what? Class 92 LokPilots are currently out of stock from IRM: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/products/class-92-deltic-dcc-standard-chip?_pos=23&_sid=20b57f2a4&_ss=r Hatton's don't have them listed, and Accurascale postage has been revoked since the Royal Mail hack. -
Just got the same email. Twelve models currently listed: https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/siteresults?search/scales/OO/brands/Murphy Models/sub-types/CIE Mark 2D/liveries/Irish Rail | Iarnród Éireann/stockstatus/all Please, please, please don't let everything arrive all at once! MM Mk2D's, MM 141 / 181 re-run, IRM Park Royals, Hatton's Genesis coaches, Heljan Mk2's... Shit!

What were you trying that was getting the locos wheelspinning? I like the 'phone box! And is that a DAF 2800 with a fuel tanker?

The video description is useless, but in one of the comments, he says: "Sorry - I should have been clearer. There is a Scotch block that rises just inside the rail and acts against the wheel. The slot through which it comes is discrete, and it all seems to be effective." And then: "Hi Bruce. The stock is held back by a rising wheel chock, detailed here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf3d-Lq8QrQ&t=218s" In the subsequent video, he does go into detail - it's a 3D printed actuator that physically rises up through the track:

You don't know the half of it. She's one of the most dangerous ones here. Aside from the cats, the fine sand in the air gets everywhere - even with doors - so I have to do my best to keep it out.

Táilte Tours trip to Downpatrick Saturday 5th August

A nice, modern bus at that! Still no KC available? -
What did he do? Looks like a death ray.

We have clearance, Clarence! Both O Gauge and OO gauge holes seem appropriate for what I'd wanted, at least for now. O Gauge feline is a tight fit but somehow squeezes through. That's all for now, duty calls...

A Nice Cronos 6,1m x 2,9m / 20' HC (CRTU-0700874) near IKEA in San Miguel back on Tuesday 22nd. Container hotspot there, almost always something interesting. Have a few more since then to add as well. Trailer looks to have an extra metre or so to spare, wierd length for a trailer, no? -
Kadee couplings - Automatic uncoupling in action
DJ Dangerous replied to Noel's topic in General Chat
Have you looked at adding a servo for remote uncoupling a la McKinley? -
What are the limitations of the magnetic Dellner couplings? As in, what don't they work with? I've tried them with an A and a single Container Flat, but with the notorious coupling mechanism on the older Flats, they uncouple while moving slowly over points. @Sean has been testing these pretty thoroughly, so maybe he can list a few incompatible combinations? Also, aside from grabbing both pieces of rolling stock to pull them apart, is there any trick for more subtle uncoupling of the IRM magnetic couplers? Like, tapping them with another magnet or something?

Mad dash to La Laguna for a replacement, back down south by five, measured, marked, scored, drilled, cut and cleaned, ready to pack up again and take home for trial and assembly...

And we have a casualty! Finished the first side off no problems but the second side didn't like not being supported properly while absorbing 100kg of downward force. Oops!
