  1. A cheaper version of the Lego mode stand. Sure you loose the LED’s and some space. But a bit better for putting on your desk as it isint top heavy….and it’s priced at 20 quid in smyths
  2. Twitter is pretty good although I can admit for railways, Facebook is the only show in that own
  3. I have managed to limit myself to one pilgrimidge to Northern Ireland per year so far…. starting the day at 5AM and ending it at 12AM just for a few hours in d’North is an expensive and mentally draining excercise….and before you ask some of work the weekeends….so hotel is off the cards too, unless it’s in Dublin and that’s
  4. A person on Facebook said (and when your only source is Facebook you know your in Trouble) said that one of Audrey’s stories was directly inspired by one incident on the Cork and Macroom Railway. The incident in question happened in 1952. The post was accompanied with the following article. I, naturally, have never followed this up with any further research….So take with a pinch of salt! if this is true, then making up a train of some cattle wagons and a GSWR F6 tank engine shouldn’t be to hard to recreate.
  5. MINOR ANNOUNCMENT: Thanks to Kevin Meany we have decided to mark an event that looks like it went overlooked on some peoples radar. 1984 marks 40 years Since a Landmark event in the History of the GSRPS. the arival of 131 To Mallow. As a small way to comemorate this event, We have replacated the key rings produced by the GSRPS in the 1980s and remade them in 2024. Anyone who worked on 131 thoughout the years it was in Mallow is entitled to a Free Keyring along with a Certificate of aperication. in order to claim this. just contact Kevin or myself with a PM or to the email adress below. The price for these will be 5 euros per Key ring plus postage. the money raised from this will be put towards GSWR No.90, A former GSRPS engine. In Light of the recent horiffic flooding event, we felt it was to help another Legacy of GSRPS live on in any small way. These will be availible on the 12th of March. at that point we will start accepting orders for these. however if you are attending any Cork based Railway events such As the upoming IRRS Presentations in Wilton or the "times arrow" Railtour. at least one of us will be there. it might save you on postage! in the meantime if you have any questions at all regarding this project i would strongly advise you email: gswr90fundraiser@gmail.com Or give myself a PM. Regards ~Cathal Deasy
  6. Aye but Joe Lawton’s handy work m was quite iconic on the wagon and added to it…..whereas 90s graffiti…..well if it was done by a well meaning enthusiast trying to cover up the rust with rattle cans….they didn’t do a good job
  7. I once got contacted from Alan asking to do an article about my Bandon tank. It’s a shame I didn’t see the message until almost 12 months later! I’ve read some of the articles it’s fantastic stuff
  8. Been often told the same thing DJ. In fact I had a chat arguably the man responsible for the change of colour, the head of IE when green Was introduced. Years of the trains being dirty late and unreliable had cast a poor image on the nance CIE which lived in to the livery virtually never changing since the 1960s and 1970s. Besides many still claim that CIE splitting up was possibly the first steps of a possible privatisation attempt like the uk anyway! think about it. Before the Dart there was the CIE push pull sets. Lovely to look at but anyone who actually traveled on them will tell you yhe 8100s Completley changed the game. And the new branding contributed to its success differintiating from CIE (some would say that stands for Cycling is easier!) and the push pull sets that preceded them At least we have the retro livery 071 and 073….and possibly more time come I suppose 112 counts as retro too
  9. If cork is getting 29s then the re-flooring and intirior has to be almost gutted! Long live the mark 4s. There not perfect but there my favourite!
  10. One would assume that A: direct copy’s of others work would be frighteningly obvious and B: 3D printing still has many years to go before it could say, replicate a product even half faithfully would be quite hard. Let’s just say I don’t know if a 3D printed A class is around the corner
  11. Albert quay 1929.
  12. Any suitible chassis for even a just a 3d print of the shell?
  13. i wonder would something like this be a genuinly viable product. there are plenty of people who need garden sheds and im sure that this shed differenciates it a lot form the competition for the regular consumer making it cool. im not a garden shed enthusiast though!
  14. the simple fact is that rare protototpyes of wagons particularly are now way more viable. for instance somone who makes one Cork bandon and south coast railway grain wagon in times past would have scratch built 1 or 2 just for himself and at most could offer at most drawings to somone interested in one themsleves. the difference is now that making 1 is just as easy as making 100. with locomotives its still very much comparible to a scratchbuilding job if no suitibe chassis is availible. but with wagons all you need is standerd wheels and standerd couplers and some paint handy and your off. there might come a time where the "drawings"section of this website might start containing CAD drawings or even 3D models ready to print if people were generous enough!!!!
  15. You know it’s bad where even I would be reluctant to buy a model of a Cork-Bandon loco
  16. The top pic is like The Inchicore sound barrier
  17. Oh that’s all…or even trialing it in Albert quay. Whatever the case, like the Clayton railcars on the west cork. A very short lived experiment!
  18. They must have been south of the river lee at least once....
  19. There are a few options at the moment Murphy models had the Mogul Marks models are doing the Hornby jinty in UTA livery Bachmann did a An NCC jinty mid your willing to splash the cash there is 00 works locomotives such as the J15 variants around then there is all the stuff that could be kit built ect.
  20. After a thorough investigation it was found that driver error was a major contributing factor in the accident and recomends the points be replaced The real 226 is not too far from south Waterford
  21. Which 2 liveries are exclusive to one locomotive?
  22. Possibly already being developed….. Very nice
  23. The greystones thing is a little ridiculous though
