  1. The biggest issue with any of these bandon tank projects is height. Anyone who has tried 3d printing for themselves will note how usually, when using a RTR chassis the loco ends up 1.5 times higher then it needs to be. And while this model is for static use only. It at least beats the BR mark 1 test of coaching.
  2. She is christened 467! 467 is the only bandon tank to have worn green while in west cork (although it was hard to see under the grime) 466 also is said to have worn green but once it was sent to diblin it never came back 463 ~ grey only. 464 ~ grey and black livery 465 ~ Grey 466 ~ Grey and CIE lined green 467 ~ Grey and CIE lined green 468 ~ Grey 469 ~ grey 470 ~ Grey Worth pointing out though some locos like 470 would be unsuitable for marks bandon as it has a very different apperently unrebuilt. Think of the difference between 184 and 186
  3. As much as I’d love to blame deisals for that tours running….464 was not behaving towards the end of the tour! I recently got one of the few remaining tickets from that tour that probably still remain.
  4. Fiver! And the broken wheel one for 15 quid…..that’s why i don’t buy that much from adverts anymore because I often find stuff like that at half the price in someone’s “hoard” over de years
  5. Progress as it concludes tonight The green is not 100 percent correct, though these pictures make it look worse then it is! the question is do these colour snails and numerals look correct? As that’s what’s going on tommorow all things go well
  6. I do have one GSR grey loco…MGWR J26 would be the next one to go into GSR grey if I got my hands on one that green I used for the chelestpry…I wish I had more of it but….I don’t. It was painted using a tin of Rocksavage green paint they had laying around in the 1960s. The paint was then coppied exactly and applied to that coach and then I inherited it….love to have more of it but I can’t get it!!! but I’m painting my bandon tank green (now by the time “green” 467 returned from the D&SE you could hardly see the green under the grime….but I’m going to do it anyway!!!!) just for fun. Hoping to have it done by Upton steam rally….unlined but at least in the right colour with some transfers. Can you give me a link for ones that would work well with the bandon tank (the lining I’ll be able to do is around the water tanks and boiler banding I think the coal bunker and running board are beyond me to line!) hand painting is a go and the first coat is on! (It’s so dark I have to use the flash to show the colour is the undercoat is black at the moment )
  7. I’m aiming for the 45-55 green IE the colour of green the bandon tanks wore on the Dublin suburban services micheal lenton is sorting out the transfers. But he can’t do the lining. I’ve seen the fox transfers white on black lining looks good. Where would one get that lining? That’s the thread I was looking for!!! I was using this as a reference for the green I was looking for
  8. How much do you reckon an origional decorative IR tie went for at cork model swap meet….
  9. Any chance anyone have an accurate enough ral no. For dark CIE green (which meabh still wears today). Closest I have found in cork this morning is 6002 and it looks to light
  10. Not the first time or the last time but there is a bandon tank on the workbench. 1/2 mark dunleas bandon complimentary of mark for helping with development, 1/4 1970s TMD MGWR J26 and 1/4 B12 from Hornby the only question is will this one be black or will it be CIE lined green …
  11. The swap meet for summer 2023 was a success despite slower numbers due to the cork limerick match. Thanks to everyone that came!
  12. I will look at cork model swap meets offerings tommorow
  13. I have not found any thread related to the different tickets from the Dublin and Kingstown to present day. It could be the subject of a book all the different punches, designs ect. But considering there are so many re-productions out there at the moment. It might be worth having a thread on this subject. I’m always on the lookout for west cork tickets so it’s interesting to watch the e of bay sometimes and the prices ect. if anyone has a Six mile bridge (Co.Clare) ticket I have an interested customer on the off chance who’d really like one
  14. Hate to winge but the intirior or the DD sets is much nicer then the mk4s. I’m a much bigger fan of the darker intirior. Big thing is the windows, them blue windows give me a headache after looking at blue for so long! Sher won’t be too long till there down in cork. Although to be honest the 2 car 2600 is perfect for there as it allows for more frequency next to a 4 car set. They would be much better for cobh boat trains and the mallow commuter services.
  15. I’m looking forward to it this year big time. And the list of people going suggest this year, it will move away from being exclusivly swapping and buying going on. But a more complete model show like the ones we have at Wexford and Dublin ect. Of course not in the same scale quite yet…. I’ve said this idk how many times. But even for a few hours of craic. Admission is free once you get of the bus! maybe grice ballincolligs old railway before the greenway is built!
  16. It’s almost like a combo of the 2. CIE greens in the one. which don’t go well together unfortunatly. but the 29k is my least favurite loco/unit on the rails…being shuffled off the comfy quiet DD sets and into that was a killer after 3 hours of Cork train already done
  17. Yes please. My ride from Connolly to Belfast on a 29k was not fun
  18. Look at my workbench Mike. I had big issues with mine
  19. I was told by Ray good that 467 was the only bandon tank to wear green livery. Although that could have been referencing purely west cork running itself. Some sources say 466 also got it I think the same photograph in that book is in Chris Larkins book somewhere if that’s an easier access book to anyone
  20. First time I have seen a colour photo of a steam engine passing over the viaduct! superb stuff as usual!
  21. Everyone goes black because in the photos they all LOOK black JHB! And sher in most photos of bandon tanks seem to have been taken on the 17th of March ‘61 the black livery was one of the more unique liveries you could get in CIE days. The other being green which most of us modelers are much to threatened by. Sher everything wore grey. That’s why everyone makes their bandons black Of course you could always give it CBSCR livery. The Bandon tanks got a slightly lighter shade of green to the other bandon liveries locomotives. Some bandon locos got yellow lining too. I don’t think any got a CBSC crest on the side. Few locos got such a thing. below is a project I’m working on. A picture of a screen is never going to be great but it’s an attempt of capturing the CBSCR livery that could in theory be put on a bandon
  22. They said if there was ever an enthusiasts day or special day they would run the Jeremy Clements models.I don’t know if the pond could be used for an RC gala. But certainly plenty of room for those RC boats that they do have installed (which the kids love) I’m not an expert in the RC boats. but otherwise yes some have just pocketed the locos in handbags or otherwise and walked out! Actually an enthusiasts day wouldn’t be the worst idea. @Nilesput that in the long term plans
  23. Generally for 0 gauge. Something smaller is more idea and affordable? of course it could be an 0 gauge N/K class
  24. The vast collection of narrow gauge locos built by Jeremy Clements for the model village. Built for running but likely they won’t run very often due to a thievery issue ignore the tired Langer holding it (he is only for a sense of scale) this is a G scale Bandon Tank in the flesh recently deleivered by Chris tebutt mine of the two Park Royal’s there. As the mini diggers, RC boats and other new attractions have been extremely popular. This has opened up funds for all these more prototypical steps forward and It has allowed them to repaint there two coaches. One is being used for private lease (I should have my birthday party in there!!!!) while the other is having interior renovations for coffee seating I'm sure. Remember the size of that bandon tank. Now look at the size of that viaduct it’s placed on. Recently built from scratch in the UK (I think) as far as I know there isint a thread on this place as of yet so I wanted to start one .
