  1. Funny enough it looks more grey rather then black in that picture. But If it’s 464 it’s probobly black alright from 1961 till withdrawal in 1963
  2. I can’t really tell from the photo….what number is this bandon tank.
  3. ???? not so much of interest for my era but im sure this is of great interest…
  4. all good until the guiness runs out and no one can find the bandon tank….and me!
  5. It’s not very long. I would say about 150 meters maybe? From memory
  6. I think the branch line society was on that fernicular around the time tailte tours was in Kerry. the only railway left in west cork….using GNRI chairs
  7. Have your ridden on the Clonakilty golf club fernicular railway???
  8. can you do the entire IOM network in a day? I haven’t a notion and I would have asked Sean when I had the chance!
  9. I was selling for €30….almost double what Leslie is charging for his new rtr eange will tell u how good value they are
  10. The problem with these areas mentioned. Bandon, skibbereen, Clonakilty, bantry, dunmanway. It’s that it’s very hard to make a line including every one of them without branchlines. Also. It seems this rail review would have easily knocked youghal out but because youghal and west cork have greenway projects currently in development. It’s hard to say weather that played a factor. greenways are the future for the west cork until at least 2050/60 by which stage I will be nearing retirement!

  12. It might be hattons overestimating how many they were actually gonna get from MM…I have heard they have done that before it’s either that or they were straight up canceled? I could have sworn there were pre production samples at raheeny last October does anyone have a screenshot of the email?
  13. I’ve seen it many times in corks flea markets…at 50 quid I’ve always stayed well away
  14. Do you have Colms creedons book on the topic? They can be quite cheaply picked up and despite the aged print quality are well worth it I know the passage west maritime museum did an exhibition on the subject recently and might be able to point you in the correct direction for drawings ect.
  15. How was the sound aquired in the end? From the Australian locomotive or made from scratch?
  16. From what I can tell, most kinsale stuff has ended up across the pond, naturally with the railways history being intertwined with the British army preseance in the town. Hell even footage on the kinsale branch had survived in someone’s catacombs (last seen 40 years ago!) I did find one website that claimed to have kinsale station photos but unfortunately locked behind a paywall with no kind of preview of any sort your correct in saying the IRRS would be a fantastic resource to have but my sources tell me they are quite busy at the moment in itself, never mind weather it’s open or not! regardless I should have enough material to work away myself regardless of if I find anything new or not
  17. Hello all recently I have been giving the green light to prepare a presentation on the Kinsale Branchline for The national monument I work at for this upcoming heritage week. And while I have a good amount of material to work with at the moment. I suppose this is an excuse to ask if anyone thinks they know or do know a place where more material/photographs on the Branchline closed over 90 years ago
  18. Yep…. saw a video of it in Capwell. Looks like a write off
  19. I have 2 brand new ones for sale in Upton tbh they are more accurate then lima Hymek shenanigans. Still much room for improvement but there still nice enough
  20. The biggest issue with any of these bandon tank projects is height. Anyone who has tried 3d printing for themselves will note how usually, when using a RTR chassis the loco ends up 1.5 times higher then it needs to be. And while this model is for static use only. It at least beats the BR mark 1 test of coaching.
