I suppose that does hold slight truth. My parents would always have associated orange and black with 80s and 90s days of Irish rail. Perhaps nostalgia for those 1980s and 90s could be key if ever the cravens were to go back to prototype livery’s. Cashing in on the nostalgia from that era. The amount of people that remember the GNR and UTA to those who remember the 40ish years of orange and black liveries down in the south. Nostalgia sells! unfortunately I’m so young, I can barely remember 141s in service!

Somone will have to photoshop some black and green cravens for us. I wonder would IE object to using orange coaches now? Putting the cravens into there prototype livery
-
I would have liked to have seen these coaches with even the top orange band completed to make a more consistent but completely fictional livery

One of the best way to justify buying an Irish model when it’s new….put “murphy models” into eBay and seeing a 200 percent increase in price
-
this came up on a Facebook group “British diesel locomotives”. The 165 DS in CSE livery, G class in CIE black and “westrail” livery E class
-
Now THAT is exceptional actually, what’s is the loco/wagon in front of maebh?
-
A46 was just thee best looking A class hands down. A42 was the standerd and I’ll be honest. The reason it did not sell well is the photos do not do the livery justice. 1 trip to marks and it went up levels for me. A30 is my only A class loco (only silver ones made it to west cork rails) I wasn’t so sure of it myself until it arrived…..it looks stunning in person, just like A42 the photos don’t do it justice it deserves

I saw in a book that they were then painted in a light (CIE like) green with red buffers. The one at belturbet seems to imitate it here are some other livery’s the two mallow locomotives in CSE livery. Both were preserved! As delivered Ruston livery, Carlow number 1 whitehead

Have you considered the D Class shunter (ecentually Irelands version of the 08 shunter) silverfox make them too, from scratch is also more then possible I intend get around to 90 myself….eventually Removing detail from a pecket and repainting it is perfect. All of my Irish rolling stock and Irish steam locos are conversions of British stuff done from scratch In a very exclusive club! I was suprised to learn how far these little locos lasted into GSR and even CIE days. Another allman distillery bandon shunter Manning waddle no. 299 (bantry) Was going to go to fenit but a MGWR J26 class was put on that work instead. I believe it was withdrawn in 1954

perhaps a look at this thread shows the differences between 495 and an actual pecket i would (and probably am anyway) get an 88ds. There is about 4 of them preserved, must be one of the most numerous preserved class in Ireland I must stress I did not make that No.90. Those photos belong to the seller of the print mark dunlea. It’s another project I must get around to! That jinty looks very good, @jhb171achill shared some good photos recently of many NCC locos lined up for scrap and that looks very similar

They have an awful lot of stuff in development or being delayed as of present. The Ruston shunters are due for Autumn this year, I recall them being due for may when initially announced I still have weird gut feeling that since the war of the companies is so tight, either hattons or Hornby may still put out a CIE variant of the 6 wheel generic coaches…..since Hornby are willing to do S&DJR ones ect…..now that would be good (ecpecially from hattons)
-
Yes the 165 DS at Tuam had wasp stripes I believe that Allmans distillery Bandon loco was still kicking around until 1949 perhaps another loco worth mentioning is the Bachman jinties, if your lucky you came find the murphy models commissioned ones in NCC livery.

I don’t know what Hornby are playing at making a titfield thunderbolt set when they don’t have (what I understand) is exclusive rights! Why are they clearly trying to take a punt at rapido….when they could have just made lion and left it at that. If there is one good thing to come out of it, the response video is brilliant! I was a small bit miffed that they announced coal wagons. I’m sure accurascale would like to say a few words about that Oh and £250 is now the average price of a loco….lovely
-
it was supposed to come out last year. Still have not been released i think

The “rowntree” livery on the ruston 88ds looks pretty good even without modification. Obviously you’d want to repaint anyway. these are the prints
-
There are plenty of other shunting locos that could be achieved. One that comes to my mind is the preserved GSWR no.90, which is do able via the 3d print and an old terrier chassis. but the Hornby 88ds already looks pretty good without much modification
